Bosham Sailing Club at the British and Irish National 18 Championships 2011 hosted by the Royal Cork Yacht Club, Crosshaven, Ireland 24th to 29th July. The total entry of 52 was split with 35 boats in the modern Ultimate Division and 16 boats in the Classics, with racing over 6 days incl the practice race.
In the Classic series of races, over 5 days, we managed 7 races with a further 2 lost because of the lack of wind.
Theorette 133 came 3rd overall (but was the 2nd wooden boat !) with Deja Blue CH10, 12th, having missed a few races with minor gear failure.
We are already planning our visit to next year’s Championships at Royal Findhorn YC in Scotland and then Chichester Harbour in 2013...... Frank McCormack as a BSC Rear Commodore and Tim Reynolds representing the BSC National 18s presented a BSC burgee to the Royal Cork’s Rear Admiral of Dinghies Dr Larrie Martin.
.......A more telling report may appear in due course once our special correspondent Bleary O’Beamish has recovered sufficiently….
