Hi all parents and cadets,
Happy New Year for 2012 and good luck to all the cadets who are navigating GCSE’s, AS and A2 exams this year.
The 420 class is fairly small but perfectly formed with a great bunch of cadets making waves both off and on the water.
To reflect competing demands you have academically and socially, I have cooked up an intensive weekend of sail training and qualifying races over a Saturday and Sunday.
This year we have been lucky enough to secure Christina Basadone as our coach on both Saturday and Sunday. Christina is a medal winner in the 470 worlds and competed in the Olympics. She will spend Saturday with the Bosham boats, starting with the basics for racing and then with the rest of the day on the water coaching, with an end of day de-brief.
On Sunday we are hoping to be joined by Itchenor boats and running 3 to 4 back-to-back windward leeward races with on-water coaching from Christina and de-briefs after each race.
Hopefully by the end of the weekend you will have learnt some new skills, improved your confidence in you, your team and your boat and will have completed your qualifying races.
The dates for training are April 14th to the 15th and depending on the weather I might try and organise a bbq on the beach after training on the Saturday (we’ll go up by RIB).
Obviously the summer highlights are Itchenor Fortnight and Bosham Junior week. I’ll be around for Junior Week for any rigging queries or general advice and help.
If you need help with your rigging or are looking for a new boat then do let me know by email – either by the link above or to richardwatney@me.com
Have a great season and see you on the water!
