Dear Members, May we wish you a very happy New Year and a great season’s sailing ahead – it’s not so very long before we all get started on a full dinghy racing programme for 2012. As ever, the events ahead focus attention on the absolute need for full support of this programme in the form of members’ duties. Recognising that our programme calls for 832 members' duties this year, the Flag Officers have extended the age range for members’ duties from the previous 18-65 to 16-70 years of age, and the bye-laws are being changed to reflect this. For younger members, this is a real opportunity to gain good experience of race management, perhaps as AROs, patrol boat crew or, if suitably qualified and formally endorsed by RC Dinghies or RC Cadets, patrol boat drivers. Please could all younger members send their email addresses to karen@boshamsailingclub.com. For members at the other end of the age scale, this is a way of giving something extra to the sport we all enjoy whilst making use of invaluable expertise – always assuming that you’re still feeling fit enough! DutyMan will soon be up and ready for you to choose your duty date, or preferably two, before the end of February. If there are any dates that are not filled by this date, they will be automatically assigned in March. We hope that this will ensure we have the whole season covered.
