This week’s newsletter is mainly assigned to Bosham Masters. There is information here about how to book for supper on Friday 14th July and this is for one week only.
Bosham Masters 14 – 16 July
Bosham Masters organiser, Barry Colgate writes:
This week it’s Bosham Masters, one of the Club’s flag-ship events.
Whether you are a sailor or a supporter or a member, there are events FOR YOU. Members new to the Club are particularly welcome.
And, looking at the forecasts for the end of the week, it should be brilliant sailing – sunny with perfect sailing winds, not too testing. So what are you waiting for?
Food and social activities
Just for this week the administration is a bit different.
Everybody is invited to join in.
The detailed menu is set out on the food order form.
Please will you complete (and pay) the food order form which you can find in the club or download a copy from here:
It would be really helpful if you could do this by 17.00 on Wednesday 12th, but late orders will be accepted upto 17.00 on the day before.
You can pay by cheque, or by calling the club and paying by card.
On Thursday 13th meet at the Club by 19.00.
We have the exciting film ‘Turning Tide’ (based on the Vendee Globe round-the-world single handed yacht race).
It will start at 19.15 and will run without an interval, finishing about 20.30.
Fish & Chips will be served asap after the film ends. Ice creams will be available @ £1 cash on the night.
On Friday 14th meet at the Club by 19.00
We have a talk by Chris Mayhew on the activities of the Kent, Surrey, Sussex Air Ambulance charity and will include some video clips. It will start at 19.15.
There is also the monthly 50/50 Lottery draw which will follow at about 20.15. Three monthly cash prizes totalling £233 will be won. Come and see who are the lucky winners.
Supper will be served afterwards.
On Saturday 15th meet at the Club by 19.00
Bruce Garrett will be running an informal, fun quiz for us, no doubt testing our sailing knowledge. This is a very enjoyable social occasion.
All members can take part whether or not you are having supper. Please email email@example.com if you want just to join the quiz, but not eat, so we know how many to expect.
There will be a break at about 20.30 for supper, and probably a couple of further rounds afterwards.
We have a raffle with some great prizes: 1st prize is a one year 50/50 Lottery ticket worth £96; other prizes are Force4 vouchers of £20, £10, £5.
Tickets are £1 each. We will draw the winners during supper.
You can buy tickets via the food order form, at one of the evening events or over the bar.
On Sunday 16th at about 16.30
Come and watch the prize giving and see who has won the trophies.
And finally, although the ‘Early Bird’ discounted entry fees have ended, you can still enter.
If you are unsure, enter now and pay the full fee knowing that you can withdraw without commitment upto 08.30 on the day of race.
As we mention above, the weather will be perfect.
We will be having class racing for Yachting World Day Boats, Tideways, Finns and Scows, plus Fast, Medium and Slow Handicap Race Series.
Power Boat Drivers and crew
Please can you join us and volunteer on Dutyman for one of the open driver slots?
We want to sail, but we need the support of other members on the water.
Any problems or queries, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org / 01243 576750
And now for some other news.
Sunday Carvery 16th July 13:00
Phew. That’s a relief – you can still have a mouth wateringly good Sunday roast at the Club on Sunday. To reserve your places, please email email@example.com by noon on Saturday 15th July.
Bosham Sailing Club and the Church Fete Saturday 22nd July
There will be an Open Morning at Bosham Sailing Club on the morning of the Church fete. The Club is organising some stand up paddle boarding instruction, children’s sailing and short harbour trips in the Club launch to name but a few things. In the evening our brilliant local band, the Dell Keys, will be singing at the Club from 20:30. In addition to that, there will be a BBQ at the club from 19:30 – 21:30. Tickets for this are £10 and can be purchased from the Club bar. The events through the day and these evening events are open to all, so please encourage your non-member friends to come along.
