Saturday was even busier than predicted with the CDB fleet out, Junior Week competitors sailing off up to Cobnor and lost wedding guests in the dinghy park. Gavin’s impressive trailer manoeuvring skills were tested to the full as 18 trailers battled with cars and boats to get back to their spaces. There was no let up in the afternoon when the club was rammed for the JW18 briefing and our cadets and parents are all set for a fantastic and full week of fun and sailing. It’s going to be super busy on the bar during this period so there may be a wait for drinks, if so your patience would be appreciated.
CONGRATULATIONS to the Sophies who have taken bronze in Aarhus in the 49er FX World Championship. Girl power! See more here.
Tonight and Friday night there will be cadet discos at the Club and, as usual, Bylaw 31excluding members from the Club from 21:00hrs will be in place for these two evenings only.
Wednesday night is the ever popular Adult Bop which is a ticketed event and is completely sold out.
JW18 finishes on Friday with the prizegiving at the club house and later that evening is the Cadet Disco so for those reasons there will be no Friday night supper on 17th August.
It’s not just the cadets who have all the sailing fun this week as it is also Chichester Harbour Race Week which takes place from HISC and a number of our keener sailors will be competing in that so we wish them well for the week.
Next Saturday, August 18th is looking good for the Junior Week Reunion with lots ex-cadets already signed up for an afternoon of racing or you can opt for just the fun stuff. Briefing at 15.00 and racing from 16.00 BBQ followed by prizegiving and music. Tickets include a FREE gin and tonic! Parents welcome too so drag the old folks along for a bop down memory lane. See link here. Due to this being a very jam packed day there will be no bar snacks available on this day.
Our delicious Sunday Summer Lunch Buffet will resume this week.

The success of our catering over the last year has attracted some interest and as a result our Chef Russell Orme has been headhunted and is going to be leaving to take up the post of Head Chef at a Hotel. Since the role he is taking will benefit Russ and his family with improved pay and benefits, which the Club could not match, we have to face a change in the kitchen.
Russ will be leaving the Club at the end of the month following the Proctor/CBR Gala Dinner on Friday 31st August. In the next couple of weeks Russ will be assisting us in our search for a replacement. Members will be informed as soon as that process is complete.
We wish Russ and his family all the very best for the future and thank him for his service to the Club. An advert has been posted today and the recruitment process has already started.
