This is the lull before Junior Week. However in the “lull” we have had the Lottery Monthly Draw, a Yachting World Dayboat Open Meeting and what we have to come, is the famous West Wittering Challenge, a great deal of Club racing and masses of RYA training courses. So much for the lull!

Annual West Wittering Harbour Challenge Saturday 18th July
How do you fancy bringing honour and glory to your Club? This is your opportunity to do both by taking your boat to sea. On Saturday the annual sailing competition between Bosham Sailing Club and West Wittering Sailing Club takes place and this year it is being hosted by West Wittering. We need as many Bosham boats as possible to take part in the race and please remember that it is not just Classic Dayboats who are eligible to sail – it’s all the classes from the Club and the more boats that enter, the greater the chance of winning the trophy. Please see the Club website for further information.
Your Club has a full summer of training ahead for both children and adults. Many of the courses are nearly full but check the Club website for the dates and then email the office for further information.
Please don’t glaze over. To everybody who has not yet signed up, remember that the summer is a simply lovely time to do a duty. As Power Boat Drivers and Crew it is the opportunity to go afloat in our beautiful harbour and as shore based officers you get a bird’s eye view of the starts and finishes! And please also remember, the qualifications needed to be an Assistant Race Officer or a Race Recorder are the ability to listen to and carry out instructions and a modicum of common sense. Just because you don’t sail does not mean you have to miss out on the fun of being part of the racing at your Club. Your first chance is on Sunday 26th July, so just go to DutyMan and sign up there or if you have any problem doing this, then just call the Office and they will be able to sign you up that way.
Club Draw Saturday 18th July
£680! That’s how much is in the Club draw now and week after week, people are missing out on this fantastic money just because they’re not at the Club at 19:30 on a Saturday evening. If you don’t usually come down, why not try it this Saturday and you could well be going home richer.
The Yachting World Dayboats held an Open Meeting at BSC last Saturday and in typical fashion most people hedged their bets and didn’t enter until they could get an accurate weather forecast!W The Club’s new Committee Boat was put to good use again and the Race Officer and his team set 3 excellent courses for the 3 races and as the wind steadily increased, one or two boats and their crew steadily fell apart. The only thing keeping people going was the prospect of a cup of tea and a delicious piece of homemade cake, courtesy of our caterers, Breeze. The racing was won by a visitor from Poole, with Bosham boats coming second and third.
In the evening 40+ members of the Tideway Association who were camping at Cobnor came to join the Yachting World Dayboat fleet for supper at the Club. And yet again, Breeze were on hand to provide a tasty bbq that was appreciated by all.
Yet another good week at Bosham Sailing Club.
