About summer. Did we blink and miss it or is the best yet to come? Well, the weather isn’t deterring Bosham Sailing Club sailors who are cruising in far flung places or racing from the Quay.
We’ve a lot to look forward to. The West Wittering Challenge, Yachting World Dayboat Open Meeting, Mirror and Feva Open and then the Club Open Morning.

West Wittering Challenge Saturday 25th June Racing and Supper
This is the scenario. It’s the 20th anniversary of the Challenge Race between BSC and West Wittering and we needed as many Club members out racing as possible …… and you weren’t there so we lost the cup. BSC is hosting the event this year, so we really do need to put on a good show. You can enter for the race on the day, although the organiser, Alistair Johnstone, would be pleased to hear from you now if you think you’re going to sail. However if you plan to have supper at BSC then you need to email firstname.lastname@example.org by Thursday 23rd June with your choice of food. All further details of this event can be found at www.boshamsailingclub.com which also gives information on prize giving as well as the menu. There has been a slight glitch with website software on this page, but this has now been resolved.
Duties 26th June
Thank you to all those people who stepped in to help out with last Sunday’s racing. We need some help again this Sunday, so if you haven’t yet done your one once a year duty, please sign up now on DutyMan.
At the BSC bar…..
Alongside our regular beers, this week’s guest ale is
Listers Golden Ale 4.1%.
Pre Red Card price £3.90 per pint
After Red Card Discount £3.51 per pint
Listers is another local brewery, based in Ford near Littlehampton. The Golden Ale is described as “lightly hopped with refreshing citrus notes. “
It is also worth checking out the two new gins that we are stocking, “Brecon” and “Chilgrove” which will both go well with the new Fever-Tree tonics now in stock at the bar.
We have two Open Meetings coming up. The first is the Yachting World Dayboat Open Meeting on Saturday 2nd July and the other is the….
Mirror and RS Feva Open Meeting Sunday 3rd July
This is such a good rehearsal for Junior Week. And it’s not just for hot-shot sailors, all Mirror and Feva sailors are welcome and it’s a really good idea to race against some new faces. And like Junior Week, this Open is run from Cobnor and some parent helpers are still needed, particularly to help in the hut. Please sign up for this via DutyMan.
Club Open Morning Saturday 16th July
Can you help promote your Club? On 16th July, the Club is having a unique Open Morning. Members of the public, who are hopefully potential Club members, are booking rides in RIBS and taster session in Club Fevas or Bahias. What we need are people who can talk about the Club either as part of the meet and greet team or as a RIB supporter to help out the RIB driver. If you sign up via DutyMan meet and greet are the “Admin Support” or “Helper” and it’s self-explanatory if you can help out on a RIB. Full details of the morning can be found on the Club website.
Access to the Quay via Shore Road
For approximately 6 weeks from Monday 27th June, there will be no access to the Quay for cars, boats or pedestrians via Shore Road. This is because BGL are undertaking urgent remedial structural repairs to the retaining wall to the side of Shore Road as it meets Bosham Quay.
Nearly 60 Sunbeam sailors from Itchenor Sailing Club enjoyed the hospitality of Bosham Sailing Club last Thursday. Unfortunately, their sailing was cancelled due to the weather but that did not deter them from arriving by car to enjoy a sumptuous feast. The food received rave reviews as did the hospitality extended to the Itchenor members by our bar staff and all BSC members present that evening.
