Raptackle Painting Saturday 25th March 12:00
Can you help give the outside of the Raptackle it’s spring spruce-up? It’s spent the winter being battered by storms and now needs a little tlc. If you can spare an afternoon to help, then overalls, gloves, paint, brushes and a free drink at the end will all be supplied. Cooking on Board Masterclasses – Canapés from The Cupboard. Saturday 25th March 16:00

Culinary journalist, teacher and all round top foodie, club member Alex Halswell has many years’ experience cooking amazing dishes on board Toccata. In these sessions in the club restaurant, she’ll teach you amazing recipes, encourage you to lend a hand and of course do lots of tasting!
There are many ingredients you can have tucked away safely in a cupboard, kept cool or even frozen in a fridge or freezer or cool box that will enable you to make delicious last minute canapés without any fuss!!
We’ll all prepare various Italian bites; quick Haddock Toasties; Smoked Salmon standbys; bite size Bruschetta, plus lots of store cupboard tips.
There will also be another masterclass on Saturday 1st April at 18:00 called “One Pot Suppers” which will be a few ideas for easy dishes at sea and there will be more on this in next week’s newsletter. There is a lot more information on both these classes on the Club website.

Committee Boat Familiarisation Sunday 26th March 10:00
Please don’t forget those alarm clocks! You know that the clocks SPRING FORWARD by an hour and so you’ll need to be up bright and early to take part in this extremely useful session that will be led by Dick Pratt. If you’re planning to be part of a race team on board the committee boat or if you think you may be able to help by driving for some committee boat starts, then please come along on Sunday morning to familiarise yourself with our committee boat. You will be out on the water so warm waterproofs will be essential! This session is free of charge and to reserve your place, please email office@boshamsailingclub.com

Training at Bosham Sailing Club
It’s your last chance to book for Easter Sail Training Courses. R/C Membership, Matthew Wright, who is also organising a lot of the training at BSC, writes:
17:00 on Sunday March 26th will be the last day for booking onto Training Courses for Easter.
We currently have spaces on the following YOUTH courses
- RYA Intermediate Racing in Oppies starting April 3rd. For those with some previous racing experience at the Club, this 5 day course covers the key principles of starting, boat handling, boat speed, strategy and tactics.
- RYA Stages 1-3 in Oppies 4 days from April 10th. For those learning to sail. RYA stages 1 to 3 provide a progressive pathway to mastering the basics, from wind awareness and rigging, through tacking and gybing, to sailing confidently around a triangle using the 5 essentials.
And for the adults
- RYA Levels 1 to 3 in Bahias on the weekend of April 15 22nd/23rd. Similar in content to the youth course, but in more stable boats with an Instructor on board each boat.

Women on the Water (WOW)
WOW Start Sailing 09:30 – 13:00
Aimed at those with little or no experience of dinghy sailing, as well as those lacking confidence or feeling very rusty.
There is instruction from qualified and patient RYA Dinghy Instructors. Sessions normally start at 0930 with a discussion of the objectives for the day, aiming to get on the water as soon as possible after 1000.The Instructor can either come in the dinghy with you or keep a watchful eye on your progress from a safety boat.
There are 5 Friday morning dates for the Spring Start Sailing sessions: April 28th, May 5th, 12th ,19th and 26th at a package cost of £100 to BSC members. If you would like to bring a non-member friend to sail with you, that is also possible, subject to availability, and with an additional fee of £50.
WOW Go Racing 09:30 – 13:00
This is a new course, primarily aimed at those with an understanding of the basics of sailing a dinghy. There is as much or as little input available from qualified RYA Race Instructors as you would like. Sessions will start at 0930 with a discussion of the objectives for the day, aiming to get on the water as soon as possible after 1000. This will give you an opportunity to practice key race techniques, culminating in a short fun race.
There are 5 Friday morning dates for the Spring Go Racing sessions: April 28th, May 5th, 12th ,19th and 26th at a package cost of £100 to BSC members. If you would like to bring a non-member friend to sail with you, that is also possible, subject to availability, and with an additional fee of £50.
