THIS EMAIL IS BEING SENT OUT AGAIN BECAUSE SOME OF YOU DID NOT RECEIVE THE FIRST TRANSMISSION.
Hello Jonas. That’s the storm that is making Bosham channel resemble white water rapids and that is also battering all the lovely daffodils that are out in the churchyard now.
So what have we got for your delight and delectation this week?
We must start with food as we have an important announcement.
Breeze at Bosham Sailing Club
Very happily for them and very sadly for the Club, Simon Mackenzie of Breeze catering has got a new job. This involves a move to Dubai for him and therefore Jane will not be able to run both Breeze and our catering here at the Club so they have decided that Jane will concentrate on Breeze café only. We’re very sad to see them go as they have had a very successful year here at the Club, however we wish all the Mackenzie family well in their new venture. And so Friday is their last evening catering here at BSC. The menu will be:
Menu for Friday 29th January
Chicken Balti with naan bread and poppadums £9.95
Pancetta wrapped baked fish with lemony potatoes £10.95
Fresh tortellini with wild mushroom sauce £7.95
Selection of cheeses £3.95
Salted chocolate tarte £3.95
Please reserve your place and choice of food, by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org by 17:00 on Thursday 28th January.
Breeze's departure does of course mean that we will be looking for new caterers, so if anyone knows of anyone, or they themselves would be interested please contact the Club Secretary on email@example.com In the short term we are going to have ‘Members Meals Nights’ when a member, or a group who would like to cook together, cook for the membership, up to a max of about 40 people. Could it be YOU cooking?! Would you like to cook, or would you like to get together with some friends to cook? If so and if you would like more details please contact the Club Secretary who will be very pleased to answer your questions.
The snack menu of soup and Paninis, will continue to be served on Saturday and Sunday between 11:30 and 14:00.
Oppy Family Party Saturday 30th January 18:00
Oooo Oppies! This is a sure sign that the season is just around the corner and surely it’s a great time to come out of hibernation and see all your old and new Optimist friends. Our new and very enthusiastic Optimist Class Captains, Claire Aston and Mark Timberlake, have come up with the great idea of a pre, preseason get together. This is a good opportunity to ask all those Optimist type questions you’ve been wondering about through the winter and to have a drink and also to stay on for some supper. There will also be a short team quiz for the cadets if they would like to take part, to get those rusty sailing brains back into working order. To come along to this excellent evening, please email firstname.lastname@example.org immediately, as the Class Captains need to have an idea of numbers. And if you’re here, you’ll be in with a chance of winning the ….
Club Draw Saturday 30th January 19:30
£160 to beat those January blues. That’s the amount that could be yours if your name is pulled out of the hat on Saturday at 19:30 but only if you are at the bar at that time. So will the Optimist fleet be optimistic about their chances of winning?!
On Sunday 31st January at 10:00 we have the first of Dick Pratt’s terrific informal courses on “Learning to be an Assistant Race Officer” These talks are always so useful and great fun and cost £6 only. So email email@example.com to reserve your place now and see the Club website (link below) for a listing of all Dick’s other courses. https://www.boshamsailingclub.com/files/404/How_to_courses_at_BSC_2016.pdf
The Club is also running a VHF course on February 6th and this qualification is essential for anybody who uses international channels such as 16 or 67 whilst at sea. There are some places still available so if you would like further details please email firstname.lastname@example.org
Film Night Monday 1st February 19:00 for a prompt 19:30 start
We LOVE film nights. It’s like watching a DVD in the comfort of your own home, but better because somebody else sorts out the film, somebody else does the cooking, you have access to a bar and all your friends are there and it only costs £6 and this includes a double sausage bap and salad. This month our film is “Little Voice” starring Jane Horrocks as Little Voice. It’s a wonderful film to watch on a gloomy February evening and it really is one of those films that you can watch over and over again. Go on treat yourself to an evening out. More details can be found here https://www.boshamsailingclub.com/files/404/2016/LittleVoicePoster.pdf
Building works at BSC
Upstairs the work is continuing and things are beginning to take shape. Every care is being taken to minimise the impact of the build but inevitably there is some disruption at the moment. Some new photos will be posted in the gallery section of the Club website later on this week.
Just to remind you that until March the office is closed on Wednesdays and Sundays and all opening hours for the bar and the office are posted in the Red Book.
And finally, if there just happens to be some BSC members reading this in Barbados, hello to you.
