With so much going on in our world at the moment, a lightning strike on the Club is scarcely newsworthy is it? As you probably know by now, it fried our computers, printers, telephones and tills. We are trying to get back to normal but it will be quite a long business, so please be patient. The upside is, a short newsletter with essential information only!

We have two big Open Meetings running from the Club this weekend. On Saturday 2nd July, it’s the Yachting World Dayboat Open Meeting. There will be boats coming from different parts of the country to sail in our lovely harbour and in the evening there will be prize giving and a supper at 19:30 in our Club restaurant. The Yachting World Dayboat fleet have extended a warm welcome to any Club member who would like to join this supper. The menu is below:
Roasted breast of chicken with mango salsa,
Salmon with a citrus crust,
All served with potatoes and vegetables.
A selection of desserts or cheese and biscuits.
The cost is £10 per person and again, your reservation and choice of food should be emailed to email@example.com to arrive no later than 17:00 on Friday 1st July
And on Sunday 3rd July, it’s the Mirror and Feva Open Meeting being run from Cobnor. Club members are encouraged to enter these events and in the case of the Mirror/Feva Open it will be a very good opportunity to get some racing practice in before Junior Week. Have a look at the Club website for further information and check your emails for communications from the Class Captains. For both these events, there are some duties to be filled, so if you haven’t yet done yours, please sigh up via DutyMan.
Ale at BSC
This week’s guest ale is Wadworth Brewery’s “Horizon” at 4% and it is described as an “easy drinking, light in colour, golden ale. Hoppy and full flavoured.
When you’re at the Club you need to have your red card with you. The changing rooms are now accessed by red card only and if you don’t have your card with you, you will not be able to get in.
Club Open Morning Saturday 16th July
Could you sell your Club? No, not literally – that would be silly. However, we need people who can talk enthusiastically about the benefits of Club membership. BSC is having an Open morning when Club members are offering non-members the opportunity of a RIB ride and for this we need people who are prepared to accompany a driver on the RIB and talk generally about the harbour and the Club. Enthusiasm will be the prime requirement so if you feel you can help, would you sign up on DutyMan. And if you could do the same thing but don’t want to go to sea, we also need people at the Club to meet and greet and again, please sign up on DutyMan. There is more information on the Club website.
Access to the Quay via Shore Road
There is now no access to the Quay for cars, boats or pedestrians via Shore Road. This is because BGL are undertaking urgent remedial structural repairs to the retaining wall to the side of Shore Road as it meets Bosham Quay.
Well done us. We won the 20th Anniversary West Wittering Challenge again! Alistair Johnstone organised the event and BSC hosted the evening supper. Our West Wittering guests were delighted with the hospitality they received at our Club and were very impressed with their delicious supper.
