This last weekend has seen some very interesting sailing. We now have Doubloon Island that can be found at the entrance to School Rythe and we also have some slightly traumatised backpackers, who had stopped at Cobnor for a quiet picnic, who were rather surprised to be joined by a Devon Yawl, complete with full sail up and crew and helm sitting out, who had decided that sailing up the footpath there, was the ideal way to keep out of the tide on the race to Itchenor mark.
So things to look forward to at your Club.
Women On the Water Friday 8th May
These ladies have had a variety of conditions to deal with, but the course has been universally considered to be great fun. It’s for all abilities and the sessions cost just £20 for members and £30 for non-members and it’s never too late to join in. Just email the Office by the Wednesday before you want to sail and then turn up on Friday at 09:00 and away you go.
Optimist Friday Night Training Friday 8th May 17:00 – 19:00
This is the second in these ever popular evenings when cadets get to do some sailing, and both cadets and parents can enjoy a yummy BBQ afterwards. Food and sailing – what’s not to like?! Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to join in and haven’t yet told us. Please also do not forget that while we are super keen to get the children to the Club, under no circumstances are they allowed above the step in the bar area is this completely compromises our Club’s licence.
Lottery Monthly Draw Friday 8th May
It’s that good time of the month again – you know when everybody who holds a Bosham Sailing Club Lottery ticket has a chance of winning some lovely lolly and also gives you the opportunity to help your Club. The draw happens at 19:30 and for further information see http://www.boshamsailingclub.com/lottery. Make an evening of it – stay for supper afterwards and celebrate your good fortune.
Supper at Bosham Sailing Club Friday 8th May
This week’s menu is in the middle of the Newsletter, just to see if you pay attention to just the first paragraph or whether you have more staying power. Breeze’s Post Lottery Super Supper will be:
Poached Salmon served with New Potatoes and Salad £10.50
Sausage Cassoulet served with New Potatoes and Salad £9.50
Please book by emailing email@example.com
And don’t forget that the Sunday Lunch time BBQ that is swiftly becoming so popular, is available from 12:00 until 15:00
BSC Topper Open Sunday 10th May from Cobnor
This prestigious event is open to all Topper sailors and best of all, it’s being run by your own Club so you’ll be sailing in waters you know. If you haven’t done it before, it’s great fun so why not join in and give it a go? See the Club website for further details and get out there and have a ball.
And now some grumpiness.
Anybody who has trailers or boats in the dinghy park that have not been paid for, need to remove them by Thursday (7th May) lunch time or you will get an invoice from the Club for a full years storage. It has also come to our attention that cars are being left in the dinghy park. Club members who do that are compromising our lease as it is specifically noted that under no circumstances are cars to be left in the dinghy park. Please use the public car park.
End of grumpiness and resumption of smiley faces.
So thank you to everybody who did a duty this weekend but an especial thank you must go to Sam McCormack who stood up from Assistant Race Officer to Race Officer as nobody else had volunteered. Sam is a star.
