- Sunday 18th Laying up of boats service
The end of the sailing season in Bosham is marked by this special church service which reflects thanksgiving for the joy of our recreation on the water and the gift of our marine environment. The occasion builds upon the long-held traditions of fishermen, those serving in the Merchant and Royal Navies and others who go to sea.
As is usually the case the Laying up of the boats Service will take place at Holy Trinity Church during the Sung Eucharist starting at 09.30 on Sunday 18 November. This year there will also be a Laying up of the boats Service at Bosham’s Catholic Church of our Lady of the Assumption, Fairfield Road during the 11 00 Sunday Mass on the same day. Club Officers and members will participate in both Services. Members, villagers and visitors are most welcome to attend either or both.
For those who have not attended before, the Service is evocative of the hold that the sea has for those who enjoy or work on the water. It is a special occasion in the life of the Club and the Village.
