This will be a very brief newsletter as the whole afternoon has been spent looking for lost files. On a happier note, Spring has sprung and the daffodils and snowdrops are blooming in the churchyard here in Bosham.

Evening Talk with Supper “Shackleton” by Martin Thomas Saturday 25th February 18:30
R/C Cruisers, who is organising this events writes
“In The Footsteps Of Shackleton”, a talk by BSC member Martin Thomas.
It is 100 years since Shackleton’s famous Antarctic expedition. In 1916, his ship the Endurance sank in the Weddell Sea, crushed by Antarctic pack ice. Shackleton and his 27 crew escaped to Elephant Island. From there, Shackleton set out with five men on one of the most remarkable and hazardous small boat journeys ever made, sailing a 22-footer, James Caird, 800 miles across the Southern Ocean.
Martin Thomas and seven friends chartered Pelagic Australis, a 72ft aluminium sloop purpose built for high latitude sailing, to retrace this legendary journey to South Georgia.
Make a note in your diaries for this fascinating talk and supper on Saturday 25 February. Further details to follow in next week’s newsletter.
