Wednesday 6th July Euro 2016 Wales v Portugal 20:00

So it’s not England, but it is Wales playing against Portugal tomorrow evening and it will be shown on the big screen at the Club. There will also be some food available from 19:00 until kick off at 20:00. There’ll be Bratwurst sausages, pork and leek sausages, meat pasties and loads of French fries so come along for football and food.

Club Open Morning Saturday 16th July
We’re still looking for volunteers to help make this event a big success for our Club. We need “helpers”. This may involve helping people to get to their correct boat for the taster sessions that have been booked or giving them some information about the Club or helping a RIB driver on the short harbour tour that we are hoping to give. This does count as a duty and you’ll be greatly helping your Club. Please sign up via DutyMan.
Laser Open Meeting Saturday 16th July
The Club has a good fleet of Lasers and next weekend Bosham hosts a Laser Open Meeting. This is a great opportunity to get out and race against some visitors. More information will follow next week in the Newsletter and will also appear on the Club website in the next few days, but Save The Day!
Cruiser Events
The July Cruiser Newsletter is now on the Club website and the 2016 Round the Island Race is mentioned below, but listed below are a few key dates for all Cruiser members from R/C Cruisers.
BEAULIEU RALLY
BSC Cruisers are off to Bucklers Hard this weekend. All members are welcome to join us by sea or land for a BBQ on the hard on Saturday night and an overnight stay at the marina. Please contact jennyrecord1@gmail.com if you're interested.
SEAVIEW YACHT CLUB DAY SAIL
On Sunday 17 July, BSC Cruisers are going on a day sail for Sunday lunch at the situated Seaview Yacht Club. All members and cadets are welcome to join us on motor boats and RIBs, as well as crewing on board yachts. For further information contact Bob Marchant at bob@bobmarchant.com
AMERICA'S CUP RAFT UP
America's Cup racing is back at Portsmouth on Sat 23 & Sun 24 July. BSC Cruisers are organising a raft up on both days to which all club members are welcome in yachts, motorboats and RIBs. The Club committee boat will also be available to take members to the spectator area and raft up with us. Please contact Frank McCormack if you'd like to join us at fdftmccormack@aol.com.
No Parking on the Quay
As we advised last week, there is considerable building work taking place on the Quay. Boats still need to be launched and recovered and there still needs to be access for the emergency services to the eastern end of the Quay. Unfortunately, last weekend the Quay became so congested with parked cars that if there had been an emergency a fire engine or ambulance would not have been able to get through. Therefore, you are reminded, for everybody’s sake, that there is NO PARKING on the Quay.

Round the Isand 2016
Congratulations are due to all the BSC boats that took part in this year’s Round the Island Race. The Club had some notable winners in John Nelson’s Sundancer of Chichester who won their Division and especial mention should go to the cadet crew of Charlotte Barnes, Charlie Knottenbelt and Matt Russell aboard Richard Barnes, Wave Whisperer, who won the RIR Young Sailor Trophy – which is absolutely spectacular! The BSC Team of Wave Whisperer, Alibi and Sundancer of Chichester came 6th. Tom de Trafford in Longay, Frank McCormack in Anne of Bosham and David Reynolds in Fire Dancer also finished the race in challenging conditions. Well done everyone!
There is more information in Jane Gerber’s excellent Cruiser Newsletter that can be found on the Club website or by following this link https://www.boshamsailingclub.com/files/404/cruiser_july_newsletter.pdf
Yachting World Dayboat Open
Last Saturday was windy. Actually it was extremely windy as everybody who went to sea can testify. The YWDB’s managed to get one race in before the event was abandoned due to strong winds and most boats scurried back to Bosham under jib only. All our visiting competitors agreed that they were very happy to be ashore enjoying Bosham Sailing Club’s excellent hospitality!
Mirror / Feva Open
This event last Sunday enjoyed much more favourable conditions. It was very well supported by other harbour clubs and some other sailors from further afield and all four races took place.
The Open Meetings that the Club runs throughout the year are mainly run by the fleet Class Captains. A great deal of work goes on behind the scenes to make them successful and they deserve to be supported by Club members.
Special thanks
Finally, it is with sadness that we have to report that our Club Steward Mark Smith has left the Club and decided to take up a new challenge. Mark has been with us since 2011 and will be sorely missed by all. On behalf of all the members and staff, we all wish him all the very best for the future and thank him for all his hard work and commitment to Bosham Sailing Club.
Back to enjoying the summer then.
Regards
Bosham Sailing Club Office Team
