It’s official! Bosham Sailing Club is brilliant, buoyant and busy. If you didn’t visit your Sailing Club at Easter, you missed seeing the Club emerge from hibernation. R/C Cadets had mustered her troops, Breeze at Bosham had mustered delicious food, the weather had decided to be kind and as a result our season started with lots of smiling happy faces. Goody.
First of all, things that will be happening……
Bosham Sailing Club 50/50 Lottery Friday 10th April 19:30
It’s that exciting time of the month again. You know the time, when everybody who has bought a Club lottery ticket thinks, it could be me! And it could be you, but only if you go to http://www.boshamsailingclub.com/lottery/ and sign up. It is noted that lottery organiser, Barry Colgate, was doing sterling work on the Club terrace over the weekend and his lottery application packs were going out faster than the tide. Come on – join in and help yourself and your Club.
The Breeze at Bosham Sailing Club this weekend
Friday 10th April Supper
Breeze Catering were terrific over the Easter weekend. We would like to remind everybody that there will be teething problems with this new venture, but both Breeze and the Club are very keen to iron them out quickly and to everybody’s satisfaction but in the meantime, you have to agree that seeing the restaurant full to overflowing, is a fantastic sight that hasn’t been seen in the Club for a while. Therefore, come along on Friday evening and after the Lottery draw, have supper. The menu for this Friday is below:
Pork Fillet wrapped in Parma Ham with mushrooms and vegetables £9.75
Fabulous Fish Pie with vegetables £10.75
Exotic Fruit Salad £3.95
Cheese Board £3.95
You know the routine. Please chose your main course and then email firstname.lastname@example.org by 17:00 on Thursday evening with your selection and your booking will be acknowledged.
Saturday and Sunday Sailor’s Snacks on the Terrace from 09:00 – 17:00
There will be sailor’s fare available for very hungry sailors and non-sailors. Persuasive pastries and hot snacks and drinks will be available and very tempting. In addition there will be a barbecue from 13:00 to 17:00 so there will be something for everyone.
Sunday 12th April Lunch
Last Sunday, the restaurant was full for Sunday lunch and this week’s menu looks to be just as scrumptious:
Roast Beef and Trimmings £12.50
Cheese Board £3.95
And please email email@example.com by 17:00 on Friday evening to make your reservation.
Commodores Reception Saturday 11th April
On Saturday 11th April our Commodore will be hosting a reception for invited guests from the other Harbour Clubs between 12:00 until 14:00. This event will be held in the Restaurant so during this time please don’t use the restaurant, but you will still be able to buy snacks and food from the Terrace rather than from the kitchen.
Saturday Evening Draw 19:30
What if you won the Lottery on Friday and then came down to your Club on Saturday and had Happy Hour and then you won £540 just because you’re a Club member?!? Oh joy of joys.
Sunday 12th April – Marquee Time
Yes it’s that time again – we need your help to put up our newly cleaned marquee for the Members Reception on 18th April (please see below). If you are able to help, please sign up on DutyMan and although there is a bit of lifting involved, it’s all a bit of fun and why not enjoy an ‘All day Breakfast Bap’ at the same time – at least you will have earned it!
The main doors of the Club are a fire exit and as such must be kept free from bags at all times to ensure safe exit if required. Please leave all bags in the Restaurant next to the piano and that way they will be safe and not obscuring a fire exit.
Two extra benefits of summer hours:
- The bar is open every lunchtime between 12:00 and 14:00
- ‘Breeze at Bosham’ Bar snacks will be available at the same time!
Far be it for us to tempt you to sit in the sun, looking at the stunning view, enjoying a luscious lunch and a glass of something delicious, but …………..
Over the Easter weekend we had too many non-members using the Club. At busy times staff cannot always monitor people coming in and out of the Clubhouse and bar staff cannot be expected to recognise every Club member. Therefore do not be offended when you are asked for your Red Card before you order as our staff are just trying to ensure that your Club is used by you the members, rather than others.
It’s so good that our Club cruiser list is being updated. If you’ve not yet received an email from RC Cruisers, please email firstname.lastname@example.org with your information about your cruiser and we’ll forward it on.
Members Reception April 18th 18:00 – 20:00 £5
Come and join us and on April 18th and you’ll have fizz and canapés and we’re really lucky, we can have the marquee opened up to let in the warmth of a spring evening. Maybe. Please email email@example.com to reserve your tickets. Last year we had over 200 members attending and it was without doubt, one of the social highlights of the season.
The week that was…
And what has happened this past week? Well, R/C Cadets did a really fantastic job of rallying her cadets (and cadet parents) and there were so many sailors out for the Junior Regatta, braving the cold and so many parents out also braving the cold and being really glad they were able to come back into the Clubhouse for reviving hot drinks. And the short meeting when R/C’s and the Club Secretary introduced themselves to both parents and cadets was deemed to be extremely useful and a great success.
The CDB’s had their warm up race and there were many owners using that old chestnut of an excuse not to sail, of “wet varnish”. Hmmm.
And our RYA Training courses have started in earnest. All the signs of summer.
