Bosham SC a memory of David Adams

David Adams died on Monday 20th December; he is sorely missed.
David, Liz and family joined Bosham Sailing Club in 1989 while they were based in London and before David retired from partnership at chartered surveyors Gerald Eve.
While David enjoyed sailing with friends at Bosham and further afield, their two sons, Tristram and Toby became involved as cadets. David became an active supporter of cadet events, including Bosham Junior Week, for a number of years.
David served on the Club's General Committee and from 2003 to 2006 served as Rear Commodore Planning. This was an important time for the Club's facilities especially as regards the pavilion at Cobnor. After his time as a Flag Officer David was always most helpful with advice and assistance to his successors.
Having retired to live in West Ashling, David was able to be at the Club frequently, often to be seen in the bar or on the terrace smoking his pipe before and after Classic Dayboat Racing. From early days of the CDBs David epitomised the spirit of the class with his beloved 'STORMALONG', in the last 10 years or so crewed by Nicky Chapple. The objective for David was to sail in the beauty of Chichester Harbour among friends having as much fun as possible. For him CDB sailing was definitely more about taking part than winning.
David was very active in a number of areas, often in the company of fellow BSC members. He would appear at Club events looking extremely dapper and full of beans. He was a skier, golfer, dancer, cook and raconteur. Above all he was a good friend to many and a loyal member and supporter of our Club for over 30 years.
Our sympathy goes to Liz and the family as we mourn our friend.
David's funeral takes place at St Mary's Church, Funtington at 12.30 on Thursday 20th January.
