New Staff - New Sailing Structure!
Continuing on our drive to be ready for a blistering summer sailing season this year, we are delighted to announce that Mike Storey will be joining us as Sailing Manager starting on March 1st.
Mike comes with a wealth of sailing experience including dinghy cruising and racing and training in coastal, estuary, river and inland lake/reservoir environments. Most recently Mike was a Senior Instructor at Queen Mary Sailing Club. He also has coastal yacht racing experience on top of his existing qualifications as a RYA Powerboat Instructor and RYA Senior Instructor with Racing Endorsement. In addition, he has completed the RYA Safety Boat, Club Race Officer and Club First Aider courses.
Mike's passion and energy for sailing and being on the water is the perfect complement to our Club House Manager, Kathrine Turver and together they will work to run the club and its ever increasing facilities. Mike and Kathrine will be supported by their existing teams, Gavin as Boatswain, Colin in the Bar , Jo in accounts, Helen as caterer and an Assistant Boatswain/Launch Driver who we are actively looking for now.
It's an exciting time and we are delighted to welcome Mike to the team.

Team Ineos UK receive a good luck message from BSC cadets
This week, Team Ineos received a welcome boost to their preparations for the Prada Cup final from Bosham Sailing Club. Sir Ben Ainslie, who in the summer sent a video message and some prizes to the cadets participating in Bosham Twenty Twenty Junior Week, received a video message of support from Bosham Sailing Club. BSC Cadets came together and produced a wonderful 'Good Luck' video which Sir Ben watched on Wednesday morning. Ben loved the video message and sent his thanks to everyone for their support. We hope you enjoy the video too!

Launch driver / Assistant Boatswain
Everyone's favourite club service, Emma, needs a driver for the whole of the 2021 season. If you know of someone who you think would be ideal, possibly someone on their gap year, or just recently graduated, please contact commodore@boshamsailingclub.com
We are looking for someone who is 100% reliable; has a PB2 license; First Aid training; can use a VHF radio and would be a friendly and professional face to all our members using the launch service to get to and from their moorings. On top of this, there will be lots of general club duties strimming the dinghy park; moving and cleaning boats, and general maintenance. They will need to work a full day on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday and Bank Holidays 08.15 to 18.00, extended to 19.00 during the summer months.
NEW! Bosham Reach
Bosham Sailing Club is reaching out to members wherever they may be with an exciting new initiative. From next week, make a date every Thursday evening with the club's new weekly web talk, called Bosham Reach. It's online, interactive and going to open a window on a wide range of topics hand-picked for BSC members. Most important, it will be fun.
All you need to join is a laptop or other device with internet then sit back, raise a glass and enjoy!
The first one at 18:00 on Thursday 18 February is going to be unmissable: it's George Storton RN on the future of the Royal Navy. If you ever wanted to ask George about the Carrier Task Group here's your chance. George will talk for about 30 minutes then it's over to you.
The plan is to make Bosham Reach a weekly fixture for BSC members. Already ideas for future talks include such diverse topics as harbour water quality, the America's Cup, birdwatching in Bosham, the history of the Finn, marine photography, sailing safety, cookery, and wine-making with plenty of experts, and some star names, presenting.
Send your ideas for what you would like to see on Bosham Reach to boshamreach@boshamsailingclub.com
The Zoom meeting address for each Bosham Reach talk will be sent to all members every Wednesday. Just click on it at the allotted time each Thursday and join in, wherever you may be.
