The Club has been approached by Chichester Cruising Racing Club, CCRC, who have been looking at ways to encourage local cruising yachts to take part in group cruises and races. There is some information about CCRC below.
The number of sailors taking part in their events is reducing and so they are discussing with other harbour clubs to see what can be done. Bosham has in the past had it’s own busy programme of events but numbers have dwindled to such an extent that such events are no longer viable with the notable exception of the Nab Tower Race.
This is an initiative to see if, together, we can revive interest in these events. The decline seems to be something a lot of clubs are experiencing and there are lots of reasons for this.
CCRC has a web site https://www.ccrc.co.uk/about-chichester-cruiser-racing-club/ which sets out what they do, a link will be added to our site.
Their programme for the year is set out below and is also on their site
Bosham members will be welcome to join any of CCRC events as Guest boats at no charge. There is a guest yacht entry form https://www.ccrc.co.uk/guest-entry/ on the web site. Once that has been completed CCRC will make direct contact to discuss any further details which might include berthing, dinner bookings and menu choices etc.
CCRC will alert our Club cruising members and dinghy members of the opportunity to crew by getting on the crew register https://www.ccrc.co.uk/crew-register/.
CCRC with Bosham Race
We have agreed to focus on one particular weekend which will hopefully encourage a group from Bosham to take part. The weekend chosen is the Lymington passage and return on 6-7 June. CCRC would provide individual results and, if there are enough BSC boats, a CCRC vs Bosham result (all boats and base NHC handicap) for a team result. BSC boats would need to complete a Guest entry form and a booking for the venue which would include berth requirements and menu choices.
Late May Bank Holiday Weekend Saturday 23 May
This weekend is both the weekend of the CCRC cross Channel race, the HISC cross Channel cruise in company and the Bosham SC Nab Tower Race.
CCRC will invite BSC members to take part in the cross channel events; and that CCRC members who do not cross the Channel are invited to join their Nab Tower race.
I do hope that you will have a good look at this proposal and hopefully arrange to take part once in a while. It would be great if some of you could join the trip to Lymington on 6 June.
Any questions or help needed with this to me initially please.
