Due to the forecast strong winds racing this Saturday is cancelled. However, we remain hopeful that the wind will abate sufficiently to allow racing on Sunday to go ahead but please check for updates here.
Classic Dayboat racing started over 30 years ago with a small group of wooden boats.  Originally the boats were of a design predating 1950, numbered just 7 boats, racing 5 times a year. From that modest beginning the fleet has grown to some 90 craft racing 13 times a year.  It is comprised of dayboats rather than racing dinghies and of designs that were seen sailing 50 or more years ago together with their more modern but traditionally designed equivalents.  They must be less than 20 feet overall, have a centreboard rather than a fixed keel and would have been seen riding to a mooring.  The fleet is now divided into three divisions with the fast fleet flying spinnakers.

A unique feature of CDB racing is that all boats race with a personal handicap which changes depending on the results. The ethos of the fleet is that racing is always to be undertaken in a Corinthian spirit of sportsmanship and good manners. Whilst observing the racing rules the expectation is that the events should be fun and enjoyable for all participants.  Protests are actively discouraged and any disagreements should be resolved amicably in the bar after racing.

In addition to the series programme all boats are encouraged to take part in the Itchenor and Bosham Regattas, the Bosham Masters 3 day event, the West Wittering Challenge and the Classic Revival weekend.  There is a BBQ in the summer and Dinner and prizegiving in November.
