MESSAGE FROM THE COMMODORE
See here for an update from the Commodore following the Government’s statement earlier this week.
BRUSH UP ON THOSE RULES
The RYA will be hosting a series of free webinars for racing sailors and aspiring race officials to introduce and explain the racing rules of sailing.
Whether you are a BSC rules expert, a squad sailor or just want to know a bit more, the six-week series will guide you through the racing rules to give you the best advantage on the race course.
The sessions will be delivered by some of the top names in the world of racing rules including British Sailing Team coach and strategist Mark Rushall, World Sailing Governance and Rules Consultant Jon Napier and Tokyo 2020 video umpire Chris Lindsay.
The webinars, which will be screened at 8pm every Wednesday, will help you understand the right of way rules, how to deal with marks, obstructions and more.
WHAT YOU'RE UP TO....
My father wrote his Memoirs on a very old fashioned typewriter or by hand. Since he was born on the Isle of Wight in 1902 and lived through most of the 1900’s, it is the story of most of a Century as seen through the eyes of a man who lived through it and served in the R.A.F. in the ASR (Air Sea Rescue Service). In his later years he lived in Bosham, first working for Lord Iveagh through out the period when he owned The Manor of Bosham and he and his family visited in the summer, which in those days included Quay Meadow. Later he started Bosham Sea School, the first sailing school in England, did yacht deliveries and wrote many articles for the yachting magazines.
I am transposing all his memories and plan to publish a book eventually, to give to all my family members.
That is my Lockdown Project.
