We have been advised that your newsletter is the subject of much debate. Some find it too long, others say that it doesn’t cover everything and some say it’s OK (hurrah for those people). Please bear with us as we try to establish a format that works for the majority.
The next time you come into the Club, you will notice that the carpet in the bar has been cleaned. This will have been done just in time to welcome you all to the Club for the ……
Club Lottery Draw Friday 13th February 19:30
The date says everything! It’s going to be unlucky for some but for some lucky ticket holders, it’s going to be a bonanza day. So come along and see who gets lucky. Our lottery organiser, Barry Colgate says that the forecast for next month’s quarterly bonus prize will be an enormous £950 (that’s the holiday money sorted then.) Don’t forget that if you want to buy a ticket to be included in future lottery draws, then you should email email@example.com
Training with Dick Pratt
Dick’s series of training lectures have proved to be very popular and everybody attending them has said that they have been enormously useful. This week’s talk is entitled “Introduction to Weather” and will take place in the West Room at 18:00 on Friday 13th February at 18:00. Come along and be prepared to be amazed, the key points of this week’s course are;
- Make informed predictions, observe what actually happens, learn from the experienced
- How to make the right decision
- Sources of information and live weather stations.
- Why weather matters, wind speed and sailability, wind direction and duration
- Local effects, clouds and wind, measuring wind speed from charts: calculating surface wind from gradient wind, sea breezes, thermals, squeezes, downdrafts & wind bend
After both of these events, stay for supper and of course the menu is at the end of this short newsletter and as always, food reservations should be made on firstname.lastname@example.org
Saturday 14th February…..
Is an important day at Bosham Sailing Club because it’s Valentine’s Day. Well actually that’s probably the third most important thing happening at the Club that day because England are playing Rugby and this will be shown in the Club. And this takes place after the Classic Dayboat Business meeting which happens at 11.00 that morning. And without wanting to encourage excess, the bar will be open all day. So you can bathe in beer or prance in Prosecco for as long as you like and finish your day with the wonderful meal below.

Sea Shanty Evening
What a fantastic evening that was! If you weren’t able to attend, you have no idea how much fun you missed out on. Several Club members are waiting for phone calls from various symphony orchestras as hitherto undiscovered musical talents came to the fore. Whoever would have thought that a box with a bit of rope attached to it would be such a masterful double bass or dustbin lid and a shovel would be such a success as cymbals? And then there were the penny whistle and the kazoo……. Frank McCormack did a marvellous job organising the event and The Harbour Buoys are well worth seeing when they return to Bosham Sailing Club. The price of the ticket also included a one pot supper that food ticket holders had in the interval and which gave everybody a chance to get their vocal chords ready for the second half.
And so, as always now is the moment to book Friday’s supper at Bosham Sailing Club as this is the menu for Friday 13th February:
Pan Seared Cod with Leek and Potato Sauce
Served with Broccoli and vegetables £9.50
Pasta Bake with Spicy Italian Meatballs (lamb)
Served with a Green Salad, Garlic Bread £8.50
Warmed American Waffles with Fresh Fruit
And Madagascan Ice Cream £3.90
