Hmmm. It may be stormy and cold outside but thanks to some of our Club members who have so kindly let us know that they are, at present, enjoying warm sunshine, white sandy beaches, stunning scenery, whilst abroad, we are envisaging a summer of tropical sailing here in Chichester harbour. Maybe. In the meantime, there’s a lot going on at your Club.
Burns Night Supper
Think all things Scottish. Addressing the haggis, Scottish dancing, a piper and undoubtedly a little Scotch as well. Bosham Sailing Club’s Burns Night Supper is back again, perfectly run by Ingrid Woodburn and the application form is available on the Club website. Just click on the Burns night poster and this will take you directly to the application form. Don’t forget to be on time as supper starts immediately after the draw at 19.30. Dust off those dancing shoes and tart up the tartan and enjoy a great evening on Saturday 24th January here at Bosham Sailing Club.
Quiz Night Saturday January 31st
So…… has Christmas and New Year TV really taken it’s toll? Have those delicious drinkies drunk at Christmas decimated the brain cells? Is your mental ability mushed? If so, never fear, help is at hand. Bosham Sailing Club is proud to announce that Quiz Night is back! Jono Prosser has compiled a fun, clever, fiendish quiz to kick start the brain. And thank goodness, the teams are for eight people so those of us whose brains still feel a bit woolly can be cunningly disguised as clever people! Tickets are £15 each and this will include a delicious supper. The evening will start at 19:30 prompt and there will be an interval for supper. Tickets are available from the Bar or Office but book soon as numbers are limited. So go on – start swotting.
Sea Shanties and Harbour Buoys Saturday 7th February
This is the first shot across your bows for this unique event. Doesn’t everybody love a shanty? And the Harbour Buoys are experts in encouraging and leading everybody in a rousing singalong. Words are provided so there’s no excuse for not belting out a good tune! And don’t think that just because you can’t sing, you wouldn’t enjoy the evening! There’s no record that Nelson could sing but surely he enjoyed a stimulating shanty? Tickets will be £12 which will include a simple stand up meal. The evening will start at 20:00 with an interval for a meal. Tickets are limited so please reserve yours from the bar or the office. Come along to Bosham Sailing Club’s adaptation of “The Voice” and enjoy a stimulating sing song.
Early Season Training
Dick Pratt has very kindly offered to do a series of informal talks in February, which will be interesting for everybody who is going to do a duty for the Club this year. There are talks on being an RO and ARO and more general talks about the weather that will be useful to all sailors. More information will be on the website by the end of the week.
Weekly Bar Draw
£420! That’s better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick! That is the amount that YOU could win by being at the Sailing Club on Saturday evening at 19.30, having enjoyed happy hour. It’s not to be missed.
Film Night and Village Supper
January 5th saw the first Film Night of the year. Thirty plus people watched “Untouchable” that turned out to be one of the most enjoyable films of the season. Added to that, there were RC House’s delicious interval sausages and an opportunity to buy an ice cream, which all added up to a first class evening. Make a note in your diary that the next film night is on 2nd February.
The Village Supper held on Thursday 8th January was the best attended of the whole series as several Club members attended with non-members, which is just what the event was about. RC House catered that evening and the next evening, much to the enjoyment of the diners. Our Village Suppers will now have a break and will be launched again in the spring.
“Everything I Thought I Knew About The Tide, Turned Out To Be Wrong”
This talk given by Club member, Mike Whittle, last Saturday was a complete and utter sell out success. There was standing room only and that was as far back as the bar, as everybody thoroughly enjoyed an amusing and informative talk by Mike. With a wonderful one put supper included in the price, this evening proved to be one of the most popular that has been held for some time. Again many thanks to Mike for making the evening such a success.
Snacks, Suppers,Lunches and Wines
So snacks first. Every Saturday, at lunch time, did you know that you can have snacks from the bar? Who doesn’t like cheesy chips or plain fries or burgers or soup with a lunch time drink? Take a break from the chores and enjoy a hearty snack at Bosham Sailing Club.
