Ok, the main things that you have to remember are Bring and Buy, Boat Auction and Bart’s Bash and as they’re all happening on the same day, SUNDAY 20th SEPTEMBER, at BSC, that will be very easy to remember and we’ll see you all here. And to start your weekend off, there is the Rugby World Cup opening ceremony and match being shown on the big screen at the Club on Friday 18th September. Read on for more information.

Rugby World Cup and Rugby World Cup Food Friday 18th September 19:00
It’s that time! Every 4 years there is a magnificent rugby fest which this time is hosted by England. As not everybody can get tickets, BSC will show many of the matches on the big screen in the restaurant and on Friday it’s the Opening Ceremony followed by England’s first match which is against Fiji. There will be a mini sweepstake organised by Andrew Young and for this Friday only, our caterers Breeze, are doing a one pot supper that will be served between 19:00 and 20:00 during the Opening Ceremony to leave you free to enjoy watching England win their first match. Breeze’s menu is:
Chilli with crusty bread £7.95
Chicken Curry with rice £8.95
Reservations are advisable on email@example.com but there MAY be some food for those who succumb to the delicious aromas emanating from the servery.
The full schedule of the rugby matches will appear on the club website soon so you can save the dates and come to your Club to share in the unique atmosphere of Rugby on the Big Screen at BSC.
Super Sunday Selling and Sailing September 20th Bart’s Bash
Bring and Buy
This is an all-go day. From 09:30 we will be selling off a great deal of old unclaimed found property. There is a myriad of items from old gloves, to caps, to buoyancy aids and oilies and a mixture of things in between (including a ladder!). Everything will be priced to go and all proceeds will go to your Club. If on the other hand you’re fed up with all the marine items that you have cluttering your house and garage and that you’ve always meant to put on Ebay but never got round to doing, then never fear, BSC is here! For just £20 you can have your own table and sell your own oilies or gloves or hats etc. and then you can go to the BSC Boat Auction and fill that space you now have in your garage with a new boat! For the Bring and Buy Sale, set up is from 08:30 and doors open to sell and buy from 09:30.
The BSC Boat Auction will be enormous fun and an online catalogue will be posted on Friday on the Club website on www.boshamsailingclub.com and you know you’ve always wanted a project to renovate through the winter months or you’ve always meant to replace your dinghy or simply you’ve always wanted to try bidding. And what about that project that you’ve never got around to finishing or the extra dinghy that you never use? Why not enter them into the auction and the only fee is 10% of the selling price which will go to Club funds.
Further information is available on the Club website, but the items for sale will be available for viewing on the Meadow from 09:30 and the auction will take place on the Terrace at 11:00.
And in the afternoon it’s BART’S BASH – The 3 Creeks Challenge
From 12:00 there will be a BBQ on the Terrace to fortify you for the afternoon’s sailing. At 13:00 there is a Race Briefing and basically the fast fleet will have 1 rounding mark in the Emsworth Channel, the medium fleet will have 1 rounding mark in the Thorney Channel and the slow fleet will have 1 rounding mark in the Bosham Channel. The Optimists will be having huge fun taking part in relay racing in the Cutmill area. There is a suggested minimum donation of £5 per boat and all money raised from this will go to the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation. All dinghies and dayboats are welcome to take part in this event. And if you can do a duty on this day then that would be brilliant as we still need 2 power boat crew to help out. There is one further option for getting out on the water and that is via a specially arranged trip aboard the Club committee boat. This is limited to groups of 6 and there are trips at 14:00, 15:00 and 16:00. The only charge, is a donation to Bart’s Bash and if you would like to take advantage of this run, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. Further information on Bart’s Bash is available from the Club website.
More next week.
