What a week that was! Bosham Sailing Club Junior Week 2015 was FANTASTIC! And now to look forward to, we have the Optimist Open on Sunday 23rd August and the Classic Boat Revival over the weekend of 5th and 6th September, with plenty else going on in between. Eyes down……
Junior Week 2015
As always, this was a brilliant week, run on parent power, great organisation and good will. The cadet committee helped out where needed and hopefully everybody involved enjoyed a great weeks racing. On the Friday we were lucky enough to be joined by Sarah Ayton, the double Olympic gold medal winner, who had been racing at Cowes all week but elected to join Bosham Sailing Club on our last day of Junior Week, to present the prizes - and join in with Oppie racing. Meridian Television sent down their cameras and sometime during this week, the footage will be shown on TV and as soon as we know when, we’ll put the date and time on the banner on the Club website.

Poached Salmon, new potatoes and salad £10.95
Moroccan chickpea & chicken tagine, new potatoes & salad £9.95
Courgette & mint quiche, new potatoes & salad £8.95
Chocolate tarte & vanilla ice cream £3.95

Itchenor Sailing Club Regatta Saturday 22nd August
Itchenor always support our regatta so, in return, it would be great to have a good Bosham Sailing Club presence at their event. Your Club also sends a couple of safety boats to help out and we are still looking for 1 Power Boat Driver for the day. If you can assist, please sign up via DutyMan or telephone BSC Office and you can be signed up that way. If you plan to sail, the entry form can be downloaded from either the Itchenor or Bosham Club websites and returned to BSC, along with your payment, which also includes tea over at Itchenor Sailing Club.
BSC Optimist Open Sunday 23rd August
This is another big event for BSC and this year it is being run from the Club rather than Cobnor. Oppie sailors are very keen and having had a double Olympic sailor racing with them during Junior Week, they’re really ready to show that Bosham Sailing Club is THE place in the harbour to be an Optimist racer. The notice of race and the entry forms are on the Club website, so enter now and come along and join in the fun.
Anchor Quiz at BSC Wednesday 26th August 19:30
This is your last chance to be quizzed at BSC and to show that the summer hasn’t addled the brain cells. The Anchor quiz returns to its home at the Anchor Bleu after this this, so for one night only…… £5 per person buys you entry to the quiz, AND some nibbles AND a sausage in a bap. If you’d like to go along, please email email@example.com to reserve your places.
Classic Boat Revival 5th and 6th September
This national event takes place at Bosham Sailing Club over the weekend of 5th and 6th of September. And it’s a glorious spectacle. Boats come from all over the country to be raced and to have a few excellent parties! And what better place to do that, than here at your Club. Everybody knows that BSC members give a very good party and they are also coming to recognise that BSC stages some exceptional events. BSC’s Classic Dayboat fleet is well represented and there are certainly plans for some veritable classics to be launched for this event. You know you want to be a part of this, so just go to www.boshamsailingclub.com and click on the wonderful Bosham Classic Boat Revival poster (which will be available for sale) link for further information.
WOW is back! That’s Women on the Water to you and me. It’s an RYA initiative aimed at getting women of all sailing ability out on the water to enjoy themselves. It’s a series of 6 Friday sessions starting on 11th September and runs from 09:00 until approximately 13:00 and the cost for members is either £20 per session or £100 for 6 sessions. Just email firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve your place.
We are also putting on extra RYA Powerboat 2 courses in September and the dates will be confirmed next week and will appear in this Newsletter.
Office Closed 22nd and 23rd August
Please note that the Office will be closed for this weekend.
Last week, apart from Junior Week, the excellent Classic Dayboat fleet celebrated 30 years of CDB racing with a pursuit race and the most delicious bbq at Mariners Terrace. The food was fabulous, the games gorgeous, the prizes perfect and the drink was plentiful. A proper CDB event.
