There’s good news, good news, not quite such good news and good news. So here we go.
Good News 1
60 people sat down to a delicious supper last Friday, courtesy of Johnnie Gallagher. As previously mentioned, some of you will know Johnnie from his days catering at Linda’s Pantry and Itchenor Sailing Club, so it is clear that Johnnie knows the recipe for good sailing club fare. If you were too late to book, then I’m afraid that you missed a stonkingly good evening with a great atmosphere created by the diners, Johnnie, Mark and our ever willing bar and waiting staff. And the excellently good news is that Johnnie is likely to cook at our Club again soon.
Good News 2
Your Club is being damp proofed! Understandably, given our location, water has always been a factor in any renovations that the Club has undertaken. And the time has come for the Club to be thoroughly damp proofed. The work has started today (March 1st) and is due to be completed in about a fortnights time. Understandably there will be considerable disruption. The bar area only, will remain open during this work and even here, there may be the odd temporary appearance of a sheet of plastic to keep the dust from this area. And the……..
Not Quite Such Good News

Good News 3
…….Is that we will be up and running again as soon as possible and hopefully we’ll be complete with a new member of staff. And the only way that you’ll know about this, is if you read this newsletter! (tee hee, that’s a good way to guarantee readership)
Building Works at Bosham Sailing Club
If you look at the Club website, in the Photo Gallery section, you’ll find some up to the minute pictures that will show you how well the work is progressing.
Scottish Dancing Wednesday 2nd March is CANCELLED due to the damp proofing in the restaurant, but all should be well for dancing in a fortnights time.

Dinghy Park Clear Up Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th March
Can you help move the sleepers that divide the rows in the dinghy park? Some lovely people have already registered on DutyMan to help with this clear up, but we still need people who are willing to help lift the heavy bits particularly on Saturday. If you haven’t already registered for your duty, then please go on to DutyMan (or call the office) and help us to help you.
Film Night Monday 7th March 19:00
It’s the last film night of the season and it’s going to make you laugh. The film is “Rat Race” starring Rowan Atkinson and John Cleese among others and for the princely sum of £6 you get a fine old evening PLUS a double hot dog burger with special onion marmalade and the opportunity of a film night ice cream for £1. Please arrive at 19:00 for a prompt 19:30 start.
Wine Tasting with Berry Bros & Rudd
After Easter, your Club is going to have a wine tasting evening with Berry Bros & Rudd in order to choose the new Club house wines. Interested Club member’s names will be drawn from a hat and 10 or so lucky people will spend an evening sampling wines from this extremely well respected wine merchant. This wine tasting will become a yearly event so if you’re not lucky this time, there’s always next! More details to follow when the date has been set.
Sailing Season 2016
Behind the scenes, your Class Captains and Flag Officers etc. have been working tirelessly to gear up for this season’s sailing. Whilst they can’t do anything about the weather, they are doing their very best to ensure that you have a great time out on the water. Gavin (Club Bosun) has lifted, cleaned and replaced the racing marks and he’s also been working on the Club Committee boat which should be a great asset this season. The roughty toughty cadets show the way with their Junior Regatta on Friday 25th March and the rest of the Club can start racing on Saturday 26th March with the Bosham Opener Trophy. All the details are in the Red Book and on the Club website.
And finally and very belatedly we would like to thank Gill Craig and Adrienne Brown for cooking for 40 plus people at the Club on the evening of 19th February. The diners were delighted and replete and Gill and Adrienne were exhausted and we thank them very much indeed for helping out.
