Never in the history of hectic weeks has there been a more hectic week than this one at your sailing club as the finishing touches are made to the very smart new changing rooms ahead of the official opening on Saturday. And if there is a minute to look out of the window, it is to a scene of sparkling blue sky and sea. Lovely Bosham.
So where to start?
Junior Regatta Friday 25th March
The roughty toughty cadets kick off our sailing season with their Regatta on Friday. Early registration will be possible at the Club between 18:00 and 19:00 on Thursday 24th March and then again on Friday morning between 08:30 and 09:30. And to make things even better, there will be breakfast available from the servery so make sure those Club red cards are charged so you can buy bacon butties and other yummy breakfast bits.
The briefing for the Regatta takes place at 10:00 on the Terrace and after a good few hours of fantastic sailing, you can come off the water and look forward to the competitors’ tea which will in turn, be followed by prize giving.
Cadet and Parents New Season Meeting Friday 25th March 17:00 – 18:00
This is your opportunity to meet Class Captains and some of the Flag Officers of your Club. There’ll be a series of very short presentations so you can get an idea of who is who and who does what and it will also give you an idea of all the things planned for the 2016 sailing season. And there will be an early hot snack high tea available.
And this is followed by what is rapidly becoming the highlight of the week –
Supper Friday 25th March
Food is going to be served on various occasions throughout this Easter weekend but this week’s Friday menu is as follows:

or

Both served with mashed potatoes, broccoli, carrots and green beans
Vegetarian
Aubergine tomato and mozzarella bake £8.50

In order to reserve your place please email office@boshamsailingclub.com no later than 17:00 on Thursday 24th March stating your choice of food. Any reservations received after this time may have to be refused.
And then on Saturday 26th March, we have our big day. Breakfast will be available from 09:30 and then, not only do we have a full racing programme, we also have the grand reopening of our newly refurbished changing rooms. We are so lucky that Sarah Ayton, double Olympic medallist and star of BJW15, has agreed not only to open this new facility but she will also give the first of our evening talks afterwards. Please come along to meet Sarah who will be cutting the ribbon at 16:30 on Saturday 26th March.
There are informal Optimist pre-season drinks at the Bar at 17: 00 following this opening and hopefully this will give you a chance to talk to Sarah and catch up with each other after the winter break.
Sarah Ayton’s talk on Saturday 26th March at 18:30 is entitled “My Olympic Journey”
It will undoubtedly be a fascinating talk and if you would like to attend, email office@boshamsailingclub.com stating how many places are required. Please also state whether supper is required or not.
There is no charge for the talk, but there is an opportunity to have supper afterwards. The menu for this evening is:
Chicken fricassee £6.50
or
Chilli beef £6.50
or
Vegetable chilli £6.50
All above served with savoury rice
Selection of desserts £3.25
Cheese board £3.75
You will need to book for this in the usual way and so please email office@boshamsailingclub.com by 17:00 on Friday 25th March, stating how many places you want to reserve and your choice of food. Please also state whether you are attending the talk. Supper will be served from about 20:00.
Sarah’s talk will last about an hour as at 19:30 the Club Draw will take place and this currently stands at £250 which will be a lovely little Easter Egg surprise and you just need to be at the Club to be in with a chance of winning.
Easter Day Sunday 27th March
You will of course have remembered that the clocks have gone forward and you’ll be ready to come to the Club for 10:00 for the Easter Egg Hunt. Meet on the Club terrace and you’ll be set on your way to chocolate heaven.
After the racing during the day, the Cadet Over 13 Disco starts at 21:00 and runs until midnight. Tickets are available from the bar and cost £8.

We are shortly to go live with these – you will be notified exactly when, but in the meantime, please dig them out ready to go into your wallet or purse.
Masquerade Ball at BSC Saturday 28th May
This is the information you’ve been waiting for! Next week you will be sent an email with all the details on how to apply for tickets for this magnificent Masquerade Ball. There is a dedicated team looking after this event and all queries and applications will be dealt with by them directly. So keep your eyes on your emails.
Laser Training Saturdays 9th & 23rd April
Well, last year you had “Rusty Racing” this year you have not so rusty but very useful Laser training led by Anna Perkins and Simon Radford. The basic format will be boat rigging tricks and tips and then out on the water for a few hours. This will all start at 10:00. If you have any queries or would like to take part, please email annaperkins87@gmail.com
Phew! Despite the length of this, something is bound to have been omitted so apologies in advance if you don’t find what you’re looking for here. The Club website should have more information to help you.
And very lastly, a big hello to all those Club members who may be reading this from the depths of Scotland in between writing the most brilliant blog.
Regards
