Goody, goody. We’ve just had the first sign that the sailing season is nearly upon us. Hail stones the size of cannonballs have just attacked the windows of your Sailing Club and also any unwary deliverers of Dinghy Park plaques.
Lots to tell you this week, so please be patient and read on.
Catering at Bosham Sailing Club
Our flag officers met at the beginning of the week and as a result we have, at last, new caterers at your Club. The 2 paragraphs below are from Rear Commodore House:
We are delighted to announce that the flag officers have appointed new caterers to Bosham Sailing Club. Jane and Simon Mackenzie of Breeze Cafe in the High Street, Bosham will take over the reins with immediate effect. Breeze impressed the flag officers with their recent guest nights and business proposal which, they believe, will work well to meet our demanding and diverse requirements! They are looking forward to working closely with Mark and his team to offer members a welcoming and consistent food and drink option.
Breeze specialises in a small menu of freshly made food, with a continental slant, including delicious, freshly ground coffee from their San Remo coffee machine. The intention is that as well as Friday night suppers and Sunday lunches every week (starting with Easter Sunday) there will always be fresh, tasty snacks available to members whenever the Bar is open. Welcome, Breeze!
So there it is. The prospect of delicious food at your Club. And to celebrate Breeze’s arrival (and with the risk that you’re not going to read any further after booking your sumptuous supper) your Newsletter is going to print ON THE FRONT PAGE, Breeze’s menu for Friday evening March 27th.
Starter sharing platter
Beef Casserole and salad £9.00
Fish Pie and salad £10.50
Fruit salad and vanilla ice cream £3.75
Selection of cheeses £3.75
The starter sharing platter is included in the price of the main course.
Please book on firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday morning 09:00 INCLUDING your choice from the menu.
As well as welcoming Breeze, we should also extend our thanks to R/C House for stepping in on various occasions, to cook simply delicious suppers over the past months.
Members Reception Saturday 18th April 18:00 – 20:00
Do you remember the drinks party we had to celebrate our Ruby members? Well, think that but better and different. This year we’re having a “Ready, Steady, Sail!” drinks reception to welcome the new season’s sailing, to welcome new members and to generally have a very jolly time. There will be a £5 per head charge for this as last year people reserved places but didn’t turn up and therefore unnecessarily deprived people on the waiting list, a chance of attending and for £5 you’ll get Fizz and canapés and excellent company. Places are again limited, so please book as soon as possible on email@example.com and if you quote your Red Card number, payment can be deducted from that (providing there are sufficient funds of course!)
This is your final reminder to choose the day you want to help your Club, meet great new people and perhaps discover a new talent. Please sign up for DutyMan before the duties get allocated. If you have any problem, either follow the instructions on the DutyMan help page or email the office and we’ll do our best to help.
There is so much on offer for our Cadets over Easter. Starting with the Junior Regatta on Friday 3rd April, which in turn is followed the same day by the Cadet and Parent New Season Meeting at 17:30 and Class parties from 18:30. If the snow and hail hold off for long enough, there will be a BBQ on the Club Terrace from 17:00 – more details will follow on this next week. And on Easter Day there is the Easter Egg Hunt for the younger cadets and the Cadet Disco for over 13’s in the evening. There is more information on the Club website and in the Club diary but you do need to book for the Easter Egg Hunt and the Junior Disco. If you don’t book for the Easter Egg Hunt, how is the Easter Bunny to know how many eggs to hide? And if he doesn’t hide enough, it’s not the Easter Bunny who is going to have to bear the brunt of disappointed children, is it mummies and daddies and grandparents?! So please email firstname.lastname@example.org to book your places. The Easter Egg Hunt is £4 per child and the Disco is £8.
The Club is now offering on line RYA Training for specific courses. Currently providing the ‘Safe and Fun’ course for all new potential Dinghy Instructors together with ‘Essential Navigation’ for anyone who would like to learn or brush up on their skills. Please email the Club Secretary on email@example.com for more details. The Club is hoping to expand the courses on offer to include the short range radio course over the coming months.
Please remember that the rules quiz that was due to be held this Saturday has had to be postponed to a later date.
Saturday Evening Draw
Come on – you know you want to win. The Club draw now stands at £520!! In order to win you must be at the Club, enjoying happy hour at 19:30 on Saturday 28th March. Hardly onerous is it? Remember, you’ve got to be in to win.
And this week’s finally is…
Film Night Monday 30th March 19:00 for a 19:30 start
The last in this fantastic series of films at the Club is “The Quiet American” based on a novel by Graham Greene, starring Michael Caine. If you haven’t yet attended these events, they’re brilliant. You watch a film in the comfort of your own Club, the bar is open and you get delicious hot sausages in fresh bread AND you get an opportunity to buy an ice cream – just like a cinema but better. So come along and be prepared to enjoy yourselves.
