We must remain humble. However…. last Sunday we had at least 20 Optimists racing, we had at least 10 Scows racing, we had 6 Tideways racing and at least 10 Fast/Medium Handicaps racing. In the Club, we also had members who had rented the marquee for a big private event that Johnnie our chef catered for and Mark, our Club steward managed. We had 2 boats on display at a stand at Bosham School fête which was managed by the Club Secretary and 3 other Club members, so if ever there was a time to be just the tiniest bit proud of your busy, happy, thriving Club, then Sunday was the day.

We are clearly enjoying our food again at Bosham Sailing Club, judging by the number of people booking for Johnnie’s delicious meals. Friday evening’s menu is:
Lamb Stuffed Aubergine (sweet spiced, fruity lamb mince) £9.50
Breast of Chicken Rossini (breast stuffed with chicken liver pâté,
served with a mushroom brandy cream sauce) £8.50
Tuna Steak on a bed of Puy Lentils. Oyster Mushrooms & Tomato £9.50

New House Wines
To complement the new food arrangement, we are trying some new wines. For one month, starting on Friday 27th May, we are doing a promotion with Wine Merchants, Berry Bros & Rudd on a red wine and a white wine which will replace our existing red and white house wines.
The white wine will be a Kraal Bay Chenin Blanc Swartland from South Africa which Berry Bros describe as Packed with upfront tropical fruit, the nose charms with an abundance of guava and gooseberries. These fruit flavours follow through on the palate, balanced by a crisp acidity to ensure a fresh and fruity wine.
The red wine will be a Montepulciano di Abruzzo from Italy which Berry Bros describe as This important red grape is grown extensively around central and eastern Italy. It is adaptable to most soils and produces a good harvest. It is deep ruby in colour with an aroma of cherries and fresh bread. Ripe fruit notes abound with a juicy rich background on the palate. This Montepulciano is an excellent example of the power and finesse than can be extracted from the delicious grape.
Both wines will be priced at £12 per bottle (including Red Card discount) and will also be available by the glass.

The draw still hasn’t been won although the chances are quite high that there will be a lucky winner this Saturday as so many people will be at the Club for the Ball.
Bosham Sailing Club’s Masquerade Ball Saturday 28th May
Have you any idea how much work your Ball committee has put in to this event?! Months and months and weeks of planning have gone into this key event in our Sailing Club year and there is no doubt that it will be a brilliant success, so now is the time to get the black tie out of mothballs, darn the dancing socks, wow with those dresses and make with the masks.
Racing and Roasts Sunday 29th May
Try to drag yourselves out of your beds after the Ball and clear your heads with a spot of racing starting at 11:00. And don’t forget that there are 2 extra Optimist races being laid on to help cadets with BJW16 qualifying. So you’ve been brave and done the races, why not reward yourself with Johnnies Rousing Roasts from 13:00 until 15:00 approx? They’re so hard to resist when the tantalizing smell is wafting around the Club and the roast is at the Servery shouting “Eat me!” It’s no wonder that the restaurant has been filled each Sunday with happy smiley roast fed Club members.
A snack menu including the famous Bosham Bap will be available between 12:00 ish and 15:00 ish on Saturday and Sunday.
The timing for serving food, as far as possible tries to encompass sailors coming off the water. There will be very busy times but please, be patient – it’s in everybody’s interest to get you served as quickly as possible and that is what people will be trying to achieve.

Bosham Masters and Scow Nationals June 10th – 12th
You’ve got one last chance to get a cut price entry and application form into the Club for this prestigious event. After May 29th the entry fee goes UP! You have been warned and all the information that you could possibly need is available on the Club website by clicking on the picture of the Bosham Master trophy. And even if you can’t or don’t want to sail, you can still be part of the event as there are all sorts of duties available both on and off the water to help run the event and all the information on those duties is available by going to DutyMan.
Tantalizingly Tasty Thursday evenings are back!
Starting on June 2nd our chef is proposing to bring back Thursday evening dining. Initially this will be on the first and third Thursdays of each month and will probably start with one of Johnnie’s delicious roasts. This will be a quieter evening than the Club dining on Fridays and will be limited to 30 diners only. The menu for the evening will appear in next week’s newsletter and the booking format will be the same as Fridays. This evening will of course be open to your non-member guests who should be signed in and will be most welcome. Further details next week but put the date in your diary now!
The singularly most important thing that happened last week, was that we went online! To be more precise, the applications for Bosham Sailing Club Junior Week 2016 are now made exclusively online. It is so exciting, so efficient and hopefully so easy to use that you will all wonder why it hadn’t happened sooner! All you have to do is to click on the JW16 picture on the home page of www.boshamsailingclub.com and follow the links or go to the “Cadet” tab on the front page and choose “Junior Week 2016”. Like all these things, it’s the vast amount of work behind the scenes that ensure the success and R/C Cadets, Maggie Knottenbelt, has been instrumental in getting this up and running. We’re hoping that she’s enjoying a computer free few days and a lie down in a darkened room! It’s also worth remembering that there are 2 extra races being laid on for Optimist sailors this Sunday afternoon to help them get to their 4 qualifying races. Further details on this can be obtained from the Oppie Class Captains.
