Our gardens may have been grateful for the temporary return to our more usual summer weather over the weekend but sailors at BSC were left kicking their heels as all the weekend sailing had to be cancelled. Luckily the lovely weather looks set to return this week and Fevas, Oppies and our training boats are out in the harbour with our instructors honing their skills for Junior Week. There’s plenty coming up for adults too!

Amendment to Saturday’s Tideset Race.
There will now be separate back to back races for the Tideways on Saturday (Tideset 4 & 5). The first race will start at 16.30 from the Quay. This amends the timing shown in the Red Book. Other race times remain the same.
We still need Race Officer’s Assistants and Power Boat Drivers for Saturday’s Sunset racing. If you can help at all, please sign up via Duty Man. Your help is hugely appreciated.
The Harbour Master has been out checking that all boats using the harbour are displaying their plaque for 2018. All vessels using the harbour are obliged to have one so please make sure that yours is up to date and visible. If you haven’t got yours you can get it here here.

Last chance to claim your outboard!
Following on from the 3rd July newsletter, we currently still have 12 outboard engines in the store which have not been claimed by their respective owners and have outstanding storage fees. Pictures of all these engines can be found on the members area of the website via this link: here, and if you are the owner, please contact the Club Secretary (URGENTLY) with proof of ownership and these will be returned. Any remaining unclaimed outboards will be disposed of in accordance with the Club By-Laws on or after the 3rd August 2018.
Bosham Classic Boat Revival to celebrate Ian Proctor’s Centenary, 1-2 September 2018
As many of you will know already, BSC has been chosen to host the Ian Proctor Centenary Rally and this will take place during our annual Classic Boat Revival, 1-2 September.
The Classic Boat Revival is now in its 8th year and we are expecting a good number of classic racing dinghies, many of whom attend every year, from all over the UK and abroad, plus a significant number of the most iconic Proctor-designed boats still afloat to gather as a fitting tribute to this remarkable designer.
Over the weekend we are planning a full programme of racing and social events including a Gala Dinner to celebrate Ian Proctor’s remarkable life on Friday 31 August.
We are very grateful to our sponsors Hartley Boats, Topper International, Michael Cover ADR, MPI, Verisona Law, Haines Boatyard and Pusser’s Rum.
Full details of the event including entry forms, NOR and SIs can be found on the website: http://classicboatrevival.co.uk/official-documents/
We look forward to seeing you there!
There is still a chance for your cadets to gain some more experience in a boat before Junior Week comes around! From 6th August we have multiple courses, all extremely useful for sailors interested in racing or just enjoying themselves safely. The courses available are: Stages 1-3 in Optimists, Feva Improver and Immediate Racing. Later in August we have more Feva and Optimist courses and Levels 1-2 adult training. Check out all the fantastic training and sailing opportunities here.
Want to get ahead? Train with the best!
With Bosham Junior Week, various youth Nationals and the Zone Squad Selection events fast approaching now is the time to consider some personal race tuition for your aspiring youngsters. Private tuition can only legally be provided through an RYA Training Centre, if the provider is not to fall foul of the Merchant Shipping Act, and the Adventurous Activity Licensing Authority, as well as risk being uninsured. Bosham has all the necessary license to offer private tuition and has access to a number of higher level coaches including those with Race Coach level 3 status from the RYA, previous Feva and Tera National Champions, and Olympic Development Squad sailors. Contact the Office for more details.
