Come on you racers! You’ve been out in all sorts of conditions this year, now reward yourselves by coming to the delicious Dinghy supper on Saturday 22nd November and collect your prizes. Fiona MacFarlane, RC Dinghies says that it’s a great evening, enjoyed by racers and non racers alike and as this event has been steadily growing in popularity over the years, it’s wise to get your application form in early. Please see www.boshamsailingclub.com for further details.
We’ve already said this, but it’s a very important day and we want all our members to be reminded of the following: The Remembrance Day Church service at Bosham will be held at 10.50 a.m. on Sunday 9th November. We hope that many of the congregation will come to the Club for coffee after the service and in order to accommodate those who want to attend the service AND sail, there will be ONE race only per fleet, starting at 13.00 and 13.10.This is a change to the published race time in the Red Book.
Our inaugural Village Supper will be taking place this Thursday 6th November between 1900 hrs and 2100 hrs. We are hoping that non members will come to the Club for supper on the first Thursday of the month and perhaps like it so much, they will wish to become members. If you are around on these evenings, please try to make sure that unfamiliar faces are made to feel especially welcome. R/C House has got at least a dozen people who have booked for this event already, so ring this date in your diary and check www.boshamsailingclub.com for the yummy scrummy menu.
We have another great opportunity for a member who has not yet done a duty, to be an Assistant Race Officer on Sunday 9th November. The racing takes place from the Quay at 1300 hours, so anybody who would like to do this duty, please sign up as soon as possible on DutyMan.
What a great evening. Over 200 members got together at Bosham Sailing Club last Saturday and partied – in the most genteel sense of course. Naturally, once or twice it got dangerous to be standing too close to certain members who seemed to have perfected the fine art of the exploding vol au vent which involved frantically licking ones fingers whilst simultaneously gently blowing the contents of said vol au vent into the faces of whoever was unfortunate enough to be part of the conversation. There were several members walking around the party with a pastry pebbledash effect on their faces as they had clearly been “vol-au-vented” The only other side effect, was that due to an office error, one previously single partnership, found themselves inexplicably married. Oops and sorry. Our Commodore, Simon Radford made a short speech, welcoming all members and extolling the virtues of being part of the Club lottery (see www.boshamsailingclub.com for further details!) and finally a toast was proposed to our Ruby members.
This is such good value. It’s better value than a better value evening at a better value club. Honestly, for £6 you get to see a film in the comfort of your own Club PLUS a supremely delicious double sausage Panini, salad and home made onion marmalade, PLUS the opportunity to buy the beverage of your choice from the bar PLUS another opportunity to buy an ice cream from that particular evenings ice cream person. How could you bear to miss the next film night which is happening on Monday 1st December? Please see Club website for details.
And finally, fresh from serving us absolutely delicious canapés at the Members Party, this week’s menu from Andy and Rosie is as follows:
