So those are all the usual reminder bits and following are all these slightly different bits that you’ll be interested in.
Red Books 2016
Everybody is interested in this essential diary planner. So we need 10 people who can help Barry Colgate put the Red Book and one or two other bits of info, into envelopes. This exercise will take place at the Club on Friday 8th January at 10:00 and will finish when the job is done. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you can help.
The “other bits of info” going into the envelopes are outlined below.
- Red Cards – In your pack containing your new 2016 Red Book you will find three additional items;
- BSC car sticker (free of charge)
- New Red Cards for each member – We are currently fitting a new door access system to the Club and these new proximity cards just need to be placed on or near the readers located next to each door. However, please do not use the new cards at the moment and continue to use your old red cards for now. As soon as we are ready to go live with the new system we will notify you but these new cards will be able to give access to the building and make payments as before.
- Request to receive communications from the Club electronically - Each year the Club spends in excess of £400 on postage to notify members every time we have AGM or EGM. To help reduce these costs we are asking members if they would be happy to receive the notifications by email rather than by post. Please can you complete the forms where indicated and return them to the Club
The Red Book will then be available for collection from 09:00 on Monday 11th January provided that your subscription has been paid in full or a direct debit is in place. We are encouraging as many people as possible to collect their books as this will save humungous amounts of postage.
When coming to collect your Red Book, please bear in mind the new
Office Opening Hours
Essentially until 13th March, the Office is open from 09:00 until 17:00 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. On Saturday it is open from 10:00 until 14:00 and on Wednesday and Sunday it is closed.
And now, how about giving those sluggish brain cells a New Year’s wake up call? Bosham Sailing Club runs some brilliant courses and the following are courses that are happening soon.
First Aid 23rd and 24th January 09:00 until 13:00 on both days
Everybody should have some first aid knowledge and if you’ve always meant to do this but never got round to organising anything, then now is the time to sign up. It could save somebody’s life. We’ve got a great instructor in Mandy Stirrup who has been successfully running this course for some time, fitting it in between her nursing job. There are only 8 places available so if you would like a place on this course, please email email@example.com or phone the office. The price of the course is £30 to members and includes the First Aid manual to go with the course.
And what about that RYA theory course you always meant to do but the time wasn’t right? Below is some information about the RYA Day Skipper theory course that will be run if there’s enough interest.
RYA Day Skipper course (theory) to run on a weekday evening (day to be fixed to work around available students) to start the week commencing Monday 18th January for ten weeks. Instructor will be Matthew Wright and will be held at the Club. Cost will be £240 and includes student packs and all necessary equipment.
If you’re interested please email firstname.lastname@example.org
And lastly the courses that you’ve all been asking for. Last year Dick Pratt ran some hugely successful “How To …..” Courses on learning how to be a race official and another series of courses on tips to enhance your own racing. And he’s doing it again this year! There will be Series A and Series B.
Series A. Help out the racing programme at BSC.
Series B. Get a bit more out of your own racing.
The first course is on Sunday 31st January (Series A)
10:00-12.00/12.30 ‘Learn to be an Assistant Race Officer’ presented by Dick Pratt
Details: before, during and after the racing; who else is involved, what kit you use, what are the most important things to be able to do.
Please watch the Bosham Sailing Club website as further information will be posted on these great courses, later in the week.
So that’s it for this week. Congratulations on getting to the end – your reward is a shorter Newsletter next week.
