Good afternoon everyone
Well this week there is a slightly different version of the weekly newsletter, our normal editor is away sunning herself and being chauffeured around the south Devon Coast so it is down to the rest of us to try and replicate her work but alas it sadly will not be up to the usual high standard.
Dinghy Park grass cutting
After the success of last week we have decided to do it all again! If you have a spare couple of hours on Wednesday evening (10th June) there will be a work party meeting at the dinghy park at 16:00, led by Paul Hocking, to tackle the last remaining stinging nettles and long grass. Please therefore come prepared with gardening gloves, strimmer’s and shears to help out. If you don’t have any of these items please just turn up and help us to move the boats so that the others can strim the grass. This is likely to be the last session of cutting before we revert to using the tractor again so if the grass needs cutting around your boat, this is the time to come along. Please make sure you have suitable clothing and protection equipment if you are using power tools, please note power tools will have to be petrol powered as we do not have an electricity supply in the dinghy park. Please update if you can come on DutyMan or contact the Office.
Dinghy Park – general
Just a couple of reminders – if you have a boat in the dinghy park we do ask that you ensure that the grass is kept cut around you space and secondly, if you do need a spare wheel we do have a limited supply available to purchase from the Office. The reason we mention this is that over the past weeks a number of club’s boat wheels and split pins have ‘strangely disappeared’…..
Have you seen?
Unfortunately we are missing a full set of sails, rudder and centre board for one of our Club Feva’s. Have you seen a set left anywhere or know of anyone who may have borrowed a set, please contact the Office urgently if you can help us out?
Would you like to win £1070 on Friday evening?

Senior Week 2015
Please see the website for full details but next week is Senior Week and we really need your entries in as soon as possible. Don’t forget that on Monday and Tuesday of next week we are running our pre Senior Week Start Racing Course with Matthew Wright so if you want to benefit from his expert tuition before the racing on the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, you need to contact the Office ASAP to book your place.
We also need drivers and crews for our safety boats for the week. Therefore, if you are not sailing or a cadet and what to enjoy watching how this sailing game is really done (or not if you are watching me), then come along and enjoy. Perhaps this would be a good way to relax after all that studying for exams….?
Friday Night Oppies (12th June)
This Friday we also have the next in our series of this fabulous evening, please make sure you have already booked your place as we don’t want any disappointed sailors. Barbecue and bar will both be running from 17:00, what more do you need for a perfect evening.
Feva and Mirror Open Sunday (14th June)
After the great success of the Laser Open last weekend the gauntlet has now been laid down to all of our BSC Mirror and Feva sailors. If you would like to take part please look at the website where you can find the entry forms and prepare for a great day’s sailing on Sunday.
BSC Regatta (4th July)
This is without doubt one of the highlights of the season and a day not to be missed. Plans are already well advanced but we still do need volunteers to help out with tasks on the day. Please have a look at the DutyMan roster if you are unable to sail and would like to help out, there is a wide variety of things to do so I am sure something to suit everyone. We are also very pleased to confirm that Strutt and Parker, one of our locally based Estate Agents, has confirmed that they will sponsor this year’s event as per last year. Please watch this space as there will be more information soon.
As they say short and sweet this week, normal service will be restored next week!
