Appointment of new Rear Commodore Cadets – Katherine Rose
Members know that the usual cycle of Club life has been disrupted by COVID-19 and this includes the Club’s Annual General Meeting.
In normal times the AGM is the focus for the election of Flag Officers. While the Flags hope that it will be possible to convene the 2020 AGM later in the year, they have decided to use powers under the Articles of Association to appoint a new RC Cadets to serve in that role from 1 June 2020 until the next AGM. This is at the request of the outgoing RC Cadets given that a successor Flag Officer has volunteered and the Cadet programme requires support and management over the summer period.
Tristram Mayhew, who has served with distinction as RC Cadets since 2017 and for the last year as Vice Commodore, resigns effective 1 June 2020. The flags have appointed Katherine Rose as RC Cadets from the same date.

Please join me in congratulating Katherine who is seen here being presented her Rear Commodore’s burgee by the Club’s President, Nick Fox while in the open and observing social distancing protocols. The Flags are delighted to have Katherine join them. Over recent weeks Katherine has already contributed hugely to the workload of Flags, from the sideline. A copy of Katherine’s biographical notes may be found here.
I am also pleased to report that Tristram Mayhew has agreed the request of Flags to maintain a non -officer role in supporting the Flags until the next AGM. Tristram will continue to join us at Flag Officer meetings and maintain involvement and ensure continuity on certain areas during this troubled time. I am personally grateful to Tristram for his continued commitment to the life of the Club.
