Prohibited Drugs Policy

Prohibited Drugs Policy

The aim of this policy is to promote a safe, healthy and responsible Club environment for all members and employees. This policy applies to all members, employees, visitors and their guests at all times and during all Club-related activities.

Neither members nor employees are permitted to possess, supply, traffic in or be under the influence of prohibited drugs whilst at the Club and representing the Club in any form. Prohibited drugs include those substances recognised as prohibited drugs under legislation and guidance available from relevant authorities.

Should any member, employee or visitor be found in possession of prohibited drugs, or if they are deemed to be under the influence of prohibited drugs while at the Club or representing the Club, the matter will be treated seriously and in accordance with this policy.

Any person fulfilling a supervisory or disciplinary role within Bosham Sailing Club will take action under this policy where required. Any prohibited drugs found on the Club's premises will be confiscated, and any form of supply or trafficking will be reported to the appropriate authorities.

The Club reserves the right to:

  • Ask any member, employee or visitor to leave the Club's premises if it appears they are under the influence of prohibited drugs.
  • Refuse entry or service to any person where drug use is suspected.
  • Report incidents to the appropriate authorities where required.
  • Implement disciplinary action where required, which may result in suspension or termination of membership or employment.

All incidents and breaches must be referred to the Flag Officers and recorded appropriately.

If any member is taking, or may be taking, prescribed or non-prescribed medication which could impair their ability to safely participate in Club activities, they should notify the appropriate Club staff prior to engaging in any activity. Under no circumstances is prescribed medicine to be offered to another person.

Communication of this policy will occur at registration of any new Club member, and inclusion in private function hire and facilities agreements. The policy will be clearly posted on the Club website and will be regularly reviewed by the Flag Officers.
