BSC Youth Sailing Fund
Established in 2002, the BSC Youth Sailing Fund aims to provide support to young sailors to improve their skills and widen their racing experience. To date it has distributed over £30,000 and has funded the purchase of new boats, sails and clothing as well as assisting young BSC sailors taking part in multiple UK, European and World events. BSC members travelling to national or international events are eligible for a bursary to offset some of the associated costs of competition.
In recent years, BSC has recognized its corporate social responsibilities by becoming more involved with the Bosham community, supported by the Fund. In line with the RYA 'OnBoard' scheme, we partnered with Bosham Primary School to introduce its pupils to sailing. The Fund supports pupils to get afloat safely and enjoyably via taster sessions and RYA courses, helping to launch their sailing careers. To date over 75 pupils have benefitted from the scheme which will continue in 2026.
The Fund is awarded at the discretion of the Trustees, as advised by RC Cadets. The Trustees are BSC members:

The Fund is totally reliant on the kind generosity of members, many of whom have contributed both with direct donations and by arranging fund-raising events such as clothing sales and boat jumbles. For several years the BSC 'Gentleman's Christmas Lunch' has raised many thousands of pounds in donations to the Fund. Should you wish to advertise a boat for sale, you can do this at no cost on the classified pages of the website. We ask that you make a voluntary donation to the Fund from the proceeds. There are many demands on our purse strings, but any amount donated really helps our young sailors.
