CDB Slow Fleet
![]()
The predominant boat in the CDB Slow Fleet is the Tideway dinghy. These were built originally in the 1950s in Essex and were all clinker with a Gunter rig. Fibreglass versions have been made since the early '90s and Bermudan rig has also been available. The Bosham fleet of Tideways currently amounts to 30, being a mix of wooden clinker and grp, with fewer of the latter, and a handful of Bermudan masts. Tideways also have their own Sunday and Friday class racing series.
Locally designed Chichester Scows and Chichester Harbour 12s are also regularly racing and in the past old classics such as Thames Estuary OD, Portsmouth Harbour OD, Firefly, Kittiwake and Salterns Tela have been known to venture out.
In recent seasons 20-30 boats have been regularly competing in the SDB Slow series.
