Junior Week

Bosham Junior Week is a week long racing and social event that is a MUST if you are 8 to 18 years old. Great, competitive racing coupled with a hectic social programme make this the teenage (and younger!) sailing and social event of the year! Junior Week is our major cadet event of the year and offers:

  • Races for all fleets over six days in Chichester Harbour and Bosham Channel
  • 'Fun' races
  • Action-packed social events for cadets and parents
  • Memories that will last a life time

Junior Week 2026 will run from Sunday 9th (registration) to Saturday 15th August.

Our sailing base is at Cobnor. Please read our ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS here. The classes which take part are Optimist, Topper (4.2 and 5.3 rigs), RS Feva, Mirror, 420 and Laser Radial/ILCA 6, subject to minimum numbers being reached. The format for each day of racing may change but generally follows the pattern of a morning briefing/presentations for all sailors and parents followed by 1-3 races per fleet, followed by a variety of fun races.

Junior Week would not function without an armada of helpers. In order to participate, every competitor must supply adults to do a minimum of two land or water based duties. These adults must also be members of BSC, a federated Chichester Harbour club or an RYA affiliated club. Any non-BSC member adults must pay a temporary membership fee in order to carry out their duties. The duty roster is pre-populated for key positions and will go live for remaining positions at 17:00 Monday 29th June 2026. To apply for your duties, log into the BSC duty roster.

Entry Requirements:

  1. All competitors must be members of either BSC, another federated Chichester Harbour club, or another RYA affiliated sailing club.
  2. Each competitor must have completed with verifiable results at least four races in the period 17th August 2025 to 28th June 2026 in the class of boat and helm/crew role that they are entering. BSC Super Sundays count as one race. Sailors without these requirements may still enter, but their entry and all social bookings will remain pending until the races are completed.
  3. For BSC members, every family member aged 16-70 must have either completed or signed up for at least one club duty in 2026. One family member can cover all their family's duties.

Entries open at 17:00 on Monday 1st June 2026. There will be a week-long entry window so you can get all your ducks in a row with your entries and social bookings before submitting. Mistakes and amendments are administratively time-consuming and annoying! Cobnor and our safety management plan has a limit of number of boats. We will endeavour to accommodate every valid entry received within the entry window. However, if we are oversubscribed, entry will at the sole discretion of the JW organisers and BSC staff. Entries outside the entry window and late entries may be accepted subject to capacity.
