Terms and Conditions - Dinghy and Paddlesports Hire
Terms and Conditions for Hire of Club Boats (Dinghies, Rowing Craft, Kayaks, SUPs and winging kit)
- Club boats may only be hired by full members of Bosham Sailing Club (BSC), aged 18 years or older at the date of hire.
- No commercial use is allowed.
- The hirer (a) is bound by BSC rules and byelaws, (b) understands the risks involved with water-based activities in this location, (c) is responsible for the safety and actions of anyone using the craft, who go afloat solely at their own risk.
- The hirer is responsible for checking the craft is in suitable condition and for returning the craft in good working order. (a) BSC may require the hirer to provide a deposit against damage prior to the hiring in addition to the hire fee. (b) BSC may impose such other conditions on the hire of craft as it considers reasonably necessary.
- Unless under the supervision of a suitably qualified coach, non-members must be accompanied on the water by a member. Each non-member outing forms one of their six permitted visits to BSC per year.
- Unless under the supervision of a suitably qualified coach, the person in charge of the craft must be competent up to a standard as follows (a) Dinghies - RYA Youth Sailing Scheme Stage 3 or RYA National (Adult) Sailing Scheme Level 2 (b) Winging RYA Improve your Wingsurfing (c) SUPs and Kayaks Competent user (d) Rowing See individual craft Standard Operation Procedures (SOP). Evidence of competence may be required to be shown or demonstrated practically. BSC reserves the right to refuse a hire at any time.
- Any loss, damage or missing equipment must be logged by the hirer to the office at the earliest opportunity.
- Collisions with any craft on the water, whether moored or not, must be reported to the office, no matter how minor the collision. Hirers are encouraged to report incidents on the water to the Harbour Conservancy using their Incident Form.
- Except for fair wear and tear, hirers may, at BSC's discretion, be required to reimburse BSC for any loss or damage caused during their period of hire, to a boat and/or a third party, and may either, pay the full cost of replacement and/or repair, or pay the amount of any insurance excess applicable, whichever is the lesser amount.
- The craft and all equipment must be washed down and the boat put away by the hirer immediately after use, unless there is an immediate subsequent booking where the new hirer is present.
- The hirer may not remove craft to launch at another site away from BSC without the prior approval of RC Dinghies, RC Rowing or Sailing Manager.
- Refunds are at the discretion of BSC and will only be issued in exceptional circumstances, e.g. cancellation of an event.
- BSC reserves the right to cancel any bookings if craft are required for BSC training/coaching purposes. BSC training/coaching will always take priority over bookings. BSC will endeavour to block-book out boats required for training well in advance and provide as much cancellation notice as possible.
