A guided walk with the Birdman of Bosham
Guided walk with the Birdman of Bosham!
Join local ornithologist Hugh Baggaley for a guided walk around the harbour in Bosham to discover the remarkable array of birds found here. On the walk you will learn about the lives and habits of our different birds, as well as learning how to find and identify the different species.
Chichester Harbour is an internationally important site for wintering wetland birds. These wintering species include waders such as dunlin and curlew, ducks including wigeon, teal and red-breasted merganser, and the brent geese that form impressive flocks thousands strong.
The walks are suitable for all levels of knowledge, with no prior experience required.
About the walks:
November
In November the wintering birds have arrived, with species such as kingfisher a regular sight around the harbour. Redshanks, greenshanks, curlews and many more wading birds busily feed in the mudflats. Little egrets stalk the water's edge for fish, while grebes, mergansers, and divers have returned hunting up and down the channel.
