Bosham Reach Talk - Howard Mackenzie-Wilson - HMS Victory The Big Repairs

Join us for a fascinating talk by naval architect Howard MacKenzie-Wilson about HMS Victory and the most ambitious stage of its £42 million conservation project.

"The Big Repair" aims to preserve Admiral Lord Nelson's famous flagship for at least another 50 years, while keeping her as close as possible to her condition at the Battle of Trafalgar. Howard will explain the project's aims and share some of the progress and discoveries made so far.

Howard is a former Royal Navy marine engineer with more than 50 years' experience in shipbuilding. He is the Naval Architect on the historic ships committee of the National Museum of the Royal Navy for all sixteen of the ships that are overseen by the NMRN, spread at various sites around the UK coasts. He also directed the team that designed and built STS Tenacious, the largest wooden ship built in Britain for more than a century.
