BSC Film Night
BSC Film Night: Wednesday 1 November. 18.30 for 19.00.
Wild Rose:
This 2018 British film tells the story of Rose-Lynn (Jessie Buckley), a Glaswegian single mother, just released from prison and battling her put-upon mother (Julie Walters), who sings in a country music band and dreams of making it in Nashville. Helped by her cleaning job employer (Sophie Okenodo), DJ Bob Harris (playing himself), determination and talent, she gets there. Despite a very positive critical reception and a few awards (for Buckley and the music), it was not widely distributed. The "star is born" story is familiar but this does it very well, mostly thanks to a stunning performance by Buckley.
Tickets include film, a hot dog and ice cream.
The bar will also be open.
