RYA Beginners (Stage 1) in Oppies

Recommended Age: 8 - 11.
Entry Requirements: Minimum age 8. No previous sailing experience required. Students who have RYA Stage 1 should consider our RYA Youth Next Steps course.
Cost: Members £300, non-members £425. Five day course. The non-member surcharge (£125) is refunded for those who join BSC within four weeks of this course.
Go dinghy sailing for the first time. This beginners course is designed to teach youngsters who have not sailed before how to launch and recover, sail across the wind, turn around, steer, know basic parts of the boat and to understand the basic principles of sailing. We will work towards completing the RYA Stage 1 syllabus. As the course progresses, depending on conditions and sailors' ability, there may be an opportunity to move onto Stage 2 skills.
At the end of the course, successful sailors will be able to steer and sail a dinghy under supervision and understand the basic principles needed to become a confident sailor. Successful participants will be ready to move on to our Next Steps or Improvers courses.
This course runs from 09:30-16:30 and will be taught in club Oppies, available to use free of charge.
