RYA Dinghy Instructor Pre-Entry Assessment
A pre-entry assessment is required to be passed by all candidates prior to them taking the RYA Dinghy Instructor course. This one-day assessment tests sailing skills up to RYA Advanced sailing level technique including seamanship skills. Sailing skills such as rigging, launching, sailing a triangular course, man overboard, sailing tight circles and sailing a follow-my-leader course will be assessed to advanced sailing level technique.
Successful completion will enable the student to join a RYA Dinghy Instructor course.
Participants should be confident that they can sail to the required standard in the conditions expected on the day before taking the assessment. No refunds are available for students booked on to a subsequent dinghy instructor course who fail the pre-assessment, although their booking at BSC can be carried forward.
Sailing will be in single-handed and double-handed dinghies. For further information about the pre-entry assessment see this RYA webpage.
Minimum age: 16
Cost: £65 (BSC and ISC members), £90 (non-members)
Book: See 'Tickets' below.
