RYA Diesel Engine Course Provisional
This one-day course is offered to BSC members at a discounted rate. The course is run by Emsworth School of Navigation and a minimum of four participants is required for the course to run.
Engine failure is the main cause of lifeboat callouts to leisure vessels and prevention is better than the cure! Learn how to prevent breakdown at sea & rectify defects not requiring workshop support. The course teaches basic maintenance and engine care which will prevent most cases of engine failure:
- Principles of diesel engine operation
- Identify and rectify the more common faults
- Systems and parts of the engine
- How to bleed the fuel system
- How to change the impeller
- Routine maintenance such as changing filters
- Winter lay up procedures
- Engine electrical systems
All equipment to complete the course will be provided. You just need to bring a notepad and maybe your engine manual for reference.

Cost: £85. No payment will be taken until the course is confirmed to run.
