RYA Double-handed Improvers (Stage 3/4) in Fusion/Feva

Recommended Age: 10 - 16. Younger sailors (aged 8 - 11) may wish to consider our Improvers in Oppies course.
Entry Requirements: Minimum age 10 with sailing ability to an absolute minimum of RYA Stage 2 with additional sailing experience and confidence since completing Stage 2. There is a considerable jump in skills and ability from Stage 2 required to successfully complete this course. Students who do not have RYA Stage 2 with additional experience should consider our RYA Youth Improvers courses.
Cost: Members £300, non-members £425. Five day course. The non-member surcharge (£125) is refunded for those who join BSC within four weeks of this course.
This intermediate course will follow the RYA Stage 3 and Stage 4 (double-handed) syllabus and, depending on conditions and sailors' ability, may also cover parts of RYA Start Racing.
The course is designed to enhance the skills needed to sail around a course and build self-reliance on the water in both single-handed and double-handed boats, covering rigging, sailing theory, launching and recovery, efficient sailing at all angles to the wind and boat control manoeuvres, crew work, building confidence in a range of sailing techniques on all points of sail and capsize recovery.
At the end of the course, successful sailors will be able to launch and sail a double-handed dinghy on all points of sail around a triangle in moderate conditions and understand the basic principles needed to become a confident sailor. They should be then have the skills required to usefully participate in club cadet racing.
This course will be taught in the club Fusions and Fevas (single-handed and double-handed), available to use free of charge. Younger sailors (aged 8 - 11) may wish to consider our Improvers in Oppies course.
