RYA Youth Stage 3/4 in Fevas
This intermediate course is designed to enhance the skills needed to sail around a course and build self-reliance on the water. The course covers rigging, sailing theory, launching and recovery, efficient sailing at all angles to the wind and boat control manoeuvres, building confidence in a range of sailing techniques on all points of sail and capsize recovery.
At the end of the course, successful sailors will be able to launch and sail a dinghy on all points of sail around a triangle in moderate conditions. and understand the basic principles needed to become a confident sailor. Stage 3 skills are the minimum required to usefully participate in club cadet racing.
Stage 4 develops Stage 3 skills into double-handed dinghies.
There is a considerable jump in skills and ability required to successfully complete Stage 3. Ideally students will have gained additional sailing experience and confidence since completing Stage 2.
Recommended Age: 10 - 14
Entry Requirements: Minimum age 10. Sailing ability to an absolute minimum of RYA Stage 2 is required, ideally with some additional sailing experience..
Cost: Members £275, non-members £300
This course will be taught in Club Fevas, available to use free of charge.
