BSC Optimist Start Racing

Start Racing/Silver Fleet
- Aimed at sailors who will be racing in Silver Fleet this season
- Objective is to give sailors the confidence, basic skills and knowledge to participate in club racing
- Half day sessions around high tide to maximise time on water:
- Mon 10:30 - 15:30
- Tue 11:00 - 16:00
- Wed 11:30 - 16:30
- We'll follow the RYA Start Racing syllabus and hope to complete the full course:
- Race starting, improved tacking and gybing, maximising boat speed, mark rounding, tactics and an understanding of the racing rules.
- Taught by RYA-qualified race coaches
- Participants will use their own boats for this training at own risk (see T&Cs)
Recommended age range: 9-12
Entry requirements: Minimum age 9 with sailing ability of RYA Stage 3 is required. Participants must be able to sail a triangular course and be able to be in control of a boat with minimal supervision.
Cost: £120 or £45 per day
At the end of the course, successful sailors will be well placed to able to compete in club cadet racing.
