RYA Race Coach Level 2
Book here.
This is the ideal course for anyone keen to coach racing sailors at BSC. You'll need to be an experienced sailor and ideally have some experience of coaching. However, you do not need to be an RYA Dinghy Instructor, so this is a great quick route into dinghy coaching. Perfect for keen racers and parents wanting to coach our cadet fleets.
This intensive two-day course looks at different areas of coaching and how to apply coaching skills in a practical series of on-the-water exercises. Each candidate will be expected to run complete sessions including a briefing, on-the-water exercises, and review. The aim of the course is to provide candidates with techniques to safely coach racing to youth and adult sailors.
Prior to the course there will also be a Zoom meeting which is usually scheduled one evening the week before, and lasts no more than an hour. The date / time of this meeting will be stated in the joining instructions which will be issued about two weeks prior to the course start date.
Candidates must
- be UK-based
- be over 16 years old
- be an RYA member (membership number requited at booking)
- have the RYA Level 2 powerboating certificate (certificate number required at booking)
- have an approved and valid first aid certificate
- have the Safe and Fun Safeguarding Awareness certificate. This online RYA course can be organised at no additional charge, prior to the course start date by request on the booking form
There is a six month grace period following the course for sailors to achieve any outstanding elements of the above qualifications if required.
There are six places available for this two day course at a cost to BSC members of £150 per sailor with the code PATHWAY25. This cost will be further discounted by £50 for BSC members thanks to funding from the BSC Youth Sailing Fund. We will sort this extra discount out individually. Bookings and payment must be made via the RYA direct, on the RYA Events Air page here. Don't forget to apply the discount code.
