Sorry for clogging up your inbox so soon, but I wanted to very quickly wish you a very Happy Christmas and to share some updates for next year.

Firstly, I would like to recognise the fantastic hard work of the Club staff and volunteer Flag Officers in the last three months; I can assure you that significant work has taken place to further prepare our club for a hopefully brighter 2021. Spring will rapidly be upon us and I am confident that after a challenging year BSC will re-open with a renewed sense of purpose and energy. Our membership numbers have grown month on month and I am delighted to welcome all of our new members I am looking forward to meeting you all in the new year.

It's been fantastic for myself and the Flag Officers to listen to so many of you we're getting a great sense of the direction you'd like the Club to continue to move in. Thank you in particular to our Membership Engagement Group who have assisted in steering the Flag Officers and providing access to a diverse set of views including those of members who live further afield, social sailors, racers and our members who just enjoy being around the water. We are taking all your ideas, comments and suggestions seriously and working to introduce what we can to improve our membership experience.

And on that note, I'm very pleased to announce some of those measures. Excitingly our new website will be launched at the beginning of January and you will see a new look, a dynamic system integrating sailing diaries, training courses, bookings, house events, and duty allocations along with easier access to key information. As part of this process, Will Curtis and Kit Chapple have done a sterling job of reviewing and designing an exciting training programme for 2021 you'll be able to access the most up to date information and secure your places via the new website. Many thanks to Will and Kit!

It will also be the place where you can find out more information about some of the new member benefits, we are pleased to be rolling out in the new season

  • Free Paddle sport hire during the week
  • Complementary Tea and Coffee
  • Free Safety boat refresher training
  • Cadet Super Sunday Fleet Racing
  • A new Cadet wristband awards program
  • Single hander intermediate coaching
  • A new 'Happy Hour' at the Bar
  • Free dinghy hire during the week
  • An integrated online 'digital diary'

Finally, I would like to thank you for all your efforts in helping make the most of the Club during this extremely challenging year. There is a huge amount of enthusiasm around the Club, when we are able to operate normally, from Oppie sailors through to rowers, sea swimmers and everything in between.

I hope you and your families have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
