Dinghy Survey Report

Many thanks to all those who contributed to the dinghy survey over the autumn. We had a great response from a wide age range across the club and from all types of dinghy sailors and had some fantastic input.

Suggestions for which a strong positive response was received included having separate series starting from the quay and from the committee boat, and having a sprint series. There were also a lot of helpful comments about the format and timing of racing. We have taken into account as much of this as we can and the sailing calendar for 2023 has now been finalised and we think that this will be a really exciting and packed year again.

The highlights include a new Relaxed Racing series from the Quay which will be held within the Bosham channel and will wherever possible dovetail with Cadet racing; a Harbour series generally starting from Cobnor or the Quay; and a Sprint series. These series will replace the spring and summer series. Members can pick the series they want to focus on and get the dates in diaries so they are prioritised throughout the year. Following the success of the pursuit race this year, we will run two pursuit races in 2023 including one to mark the coronation.

There was a strong request from respondents for the Red Book to remain and so all the details will be included in that for next year - as for this year though the website will take precedence for race timings and the online calendar is in the process of being populated
